DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK’S MEETING? HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED:
Student of the month:
KIANNA TRIPPLER: THUNDERRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL
Kiana, a senior at ThunderRidge was recognized by the club as an outstanding student. She was accompanied by her father, Michael Trippler. Kiana is ranked first in her class at ThunderRidge with a GPA of 4.0, as well as an AP scholar and National Merit semifinalist. She hopes to attend an Ivy League school such as Yale or Princeton but has also applied to Duke and the University of Colorado. She would like to study in the field of science, preferably biology, which may lead to medicine or neuroscience. Kiana told members about her trip last summer to the University of Copenhagen in Demark. She spent the summer working in the nanotechnology laboratories shadowing the professors. Kiana is very active in her school as president of the National Honor Society and a member of the golf team. She also volunteers at the Museum of Nature and Science as a Galaxy Guide.
NEW MEMBER
Welcome to Maureen "Reen" Gottron, our newest member! Her husband Fritz was on hand for her membership acceptance. Thanks to Steve Miller who was her sponsor. Carolyn Bradish will be her mentor
UN-Learning
Doug discussed how people are spending too much time focusing on what didn’t work and how to fix it, where they need to spend the majority of their focus on what they do want and how to get there. Through ‘enter-trainment’, Doug provided inspiration and information, giving participants tools that are immediately applicable.
OTHER NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
FROM GAIL MULLIN
Dear friends who are also Rotarians---I want to take this opportunity with deep appreciation to thank you for your wonderful support. You have been with me not only when John needed extra help to get around but also your over whelming presence at his memorial service was heart felt by all our family. The most generous gift given to Lutheran Family Services will help continue our work as Rotarians and honor John's legacy as well. I love you all, Gail Mullin

WHO IS NATASHA NOLA?

I was born in Berlin, Germany to a German mother and Hungarian father. Most of my childhood was spent in Austria where life was beautiful, peaceful and full of wonderful experiences. At 18 I migrated to Denver to attend Colorado University. It was challenging due to the fact that I spoke very little English. I have always been determined and driven to be the best I can be and after a few years was able to save enough to open a very successful hair salon and dress boutique. Ten years later I reinvented myself by becoming a Realtor, was hired by a fledging new home builder and was instrumental in turning that company into one of the most successful privately owned companies in Colorado. After 16 years, I determined it was time to go out on my own and have been a leading agent in the private sector of resale real estate for the past 8 years. Hobbies include extensive travel, hiking, dancing, reading and cooking. I have a son and two grandsons (in college). My positive attitude and non-stop energy have lead me to where I am today and now it’s time to give back to the community -- particularly those in need. My motto is: "Stay Optimistic, Enthusiastic and Confident". As a Rotarian, my hope is that I am able to pass that mindset on to individuals who need a positive role model and the encouragement to move on.
BUENA VISTA ROTARY
Sue & Jim Bramley recently visited the Buena Vista (BV) club. With around 20 members, they definitely get a lot done in the Arkansas Valley. Their biggest event is the BV Bike Fest, which they recently took over. Always looking for attendance, we promised we’d make an announcement at our club so you can encourage your friends & family to participate in this premier southern Colorado event in a stunning location.
For their literacy activity, they are involved with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. With this program, children receive age appropriate books from birth to age 5.
https://imaginationlibrary.com/ And as an aside, their newsletter is named B.V.er (beaver)!
