DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK'S MEETING: HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED

LIVEWELL COLORADO

Shepard Nevel is president of LiveWell Colorado. LiveWell Colorado is a nonprofit organization committed to reducing obesity and other chronic health conditions by improving access to healthy eating and physical activity for all Coloradans.

In addition to educating and inspiring people to make healthy choices, LiveWell Colorado focuses on policy and environmental changes that remove barriers to healthy living opportunities. Working in partnership with obesity prevention initiatives across the state, LiveWell aims to provide every Coloradan with access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity.

Initially established as a grant-making collaborative in 2007, LiveWell Colorado became a 501(c)(3) in 2009 with the support of its initial funders, The Colorado Health Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, and the Kresge Foundation; and its partner the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Visit https://livewellcolorado.org/ for more information.

OTHER NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT

PICNIC SATURDAY - COME FOR THE FOOD, STAY FOR THE AWARDS!
The background of the pavilion looks a lot different than when it was first built.  The neighborhood is really growing.

It's time for the club picnic this Saturday, June 11 from 1-5pm at the Rotary Pavilion at Civic Green Park, behind the library.  Break out your best picnic side dishes to share at the annual pot luck.  The club will provide beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks as well as KFC.  Your families, children and grandchildren are all welcome. There will be unstructured games and fun stuff to play with...Jan is "wondering if Maren bringing her hoola hoop?" Not to mention the always fun playground creek the kids love to splash in! Bring pop up chairs and carry it on into the evening, as the Highlands Ranch Concert Band will be performing in the band shell for a HRCA scheduled concert starting at 6:30 pm.

We will also hold our annual awards presentation including presidential thank you gifts and the coveted Rotarian of the Year award.  Mary Kay will be on hand with a few surprises of her own. You don't want to miss this great event!

2016/17 BUDGET WILL BE PRESENTED THIS WEEK
By President Jan Selinfreund

Tom Keyton, your Highlands Ranch Rotary Club board and I are working very hard to deliver a balanced budget without an enormous increase in dues.  Treasurer Tom will be explaining the budget at our regular meeting at the June 9 meeting, be sure to attend!

HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN - DON'T MISS SEEING PHANTOM IN SEPTEMBER!

The club has reserved 60 orchestra seats for Saturday, September 10, at 7:30 PM for "The Phantom of The Opera".  Ticket price is $95 per person. Phantom is one of the all time best musicals in theatre history. For those who have seen it, critics say this production is better than ever. For those who haven't seen it, Phantom is a must.

We are on a SHORT deadline as it will be a sell out at the Buell.  So the June 16th Rotary meeting will be your last chance to purchase tickets.  33 people have already signed up and 27 tickets are still available. Steve Miller is working on a place to have food and drinks prior to the performance. If you like to join us for this spectacular evening, please contact me, Jerry Selinfreund at 303-550-4242.

DOUGLAS ELBERT TASK FORCE GETS A KITCHEN MAKEOVER...COMPLIMENTS OF HR ROTARY!

Rotarians met at the Castle Rock home of the Douglas Elbert Task Force to complete our portion of the remodel. The workers prepped and painted the kitchen, which has been an eyesore for a while.

Paul Campbell and Jim Bramley made the perfect team.  Paul got the upper walls and Jim the lower!

Jan Selinfreund & Connie finishing the soothing beige walls.
