DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK'S MEETING? HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED

BROOKE CHESTNUT DISCUSSED MILLINIALS

Speaker, Brook Chestnut, had a great presentation “Inspiring the Generational Work Force”. Brook is a generational expert who works with corporate and entrepreneurial clients.  Brook’s fascinating presentation centered around three major areas of focus:

*Education about the workforce

*Strategies for communication with all generations

*Developing better relationships between the generations

This one was a must hear! Our club welcomed Brook’s energy and knowledge of a topic that all of us can use in our business and personal relationships.

OTHER NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
PRESIDENT'S DINNER MADE THE NEWS!
RI President John Germ and his wife Judy, were in Denver on January 7 for The RI President's Dinner and Benefit to Eradicate Polio.  The Marriott South, home to the Highlands Ranch Bright Futures Gala, was the place to be seen in the Front Range Rotary world as Mary Kay Hasz, past District 5450 Governor, welcomed President John as well as Polio eradicator Carl Tintsman, his wife Tinbet, and World Health Organization’s Director of Polio Eradication Michel Zaffran.

Carl Tintsman, the evening's keynote speaker, has made an incredible difference in the world in his efforts to eradicate polio. Carl retired in 2005, but he is determined to contribute to the polio eradication effort until eradication reaches 100%. Following his speech, $21k was raised for the eradication effort.

The Villager Newspaper featured a great article on the star-studded evening. Click here to read: http://www.villagerpublishing.com/85164/fleurish/rotary-international-president-welcomed-to-denver/
Mary Kay Hasz chaired the event with special guest Rotary International President John F. Germ and his wife Judy.

THE COSTA RICA TRIO!

Connie Golas, Elizabeth Kringel and Jan Keyton took an afternoon off from their Costa Rican activities to get in a bit of sightseeing.  Here they are daring the laws of physics crossing one of Costa Rica's many suspension bridges.

A MESSAGE FROM DEBBY

To my Rotary Family,

Upon Doug's death, I asked that gifts in his memory be made to our Rotary Foundation.  Most of you know, but not all, that Doug founded our Foundation in our early years as a Club. He filed the paperwork with the State for our non-profit status, and wrote the first By-Laws, investing time to make sure the 'foundation' was properly laid for a successful club Foundation.  He also served as Foundation Chair on and off for many years.  He would be pleased to know so many club members as well as our family and friends, donated to this facet of our club he felt so strongly about.

An amazing $3600 was donated, $500 of it a direct contribution from our club Foundation.  After much thought and prayer, I asked the contributions be distributed as follows:

Club supported organizations: $1000 - Shelter Box; $500 to Fort Carson Army Base; $600 for our projects in Costa Rica

Non-club organizations:  $250 - Cherry Creek Chorale; $250 - Divine Mercy Supportive Care and Hospice; $1000 to the local chapter of Pheasants Forever to support a program called, "No Youth Left Indoors".

Words don't express the gratitude I feel for not only the generosity of this club, but the love and support shown to both Doug and I the last couple of years -- not to the mention the friendship and hugs I have received since he passed.

Please let me say, sincerely and most humbly...

Thank You.

Debby
