This Week's Speaker - Club Biz and Joan Dameron Classification Talk

Inspiration: Tim Sparks

Last Week's Speaker - Sue Bramley - OLLI online
OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) South Manager, Darcey Vanwagner joined Sue to provide an update on what is coming this fall. OLLI is now a virtual program in conjunction with University of Denver offering educational opportunities to those over 50. 147 classes are available this fall with registration beginning Aug 10th, https://portfolio.du.edu/ollisouth. Sue shared a fantastic preview of her upcoming class, Guitar Heroes.
Jerry Wilford shared exciting news of the first female RI Presidential nominee, Jennifer Jones, in 115 years of RI! Jennifer is the president and CEO of Media Street Productions Inc., an award winning television production company in Windsor, Ontario. She has served Rotary in many roles including RI vice president in 2016-17. She is co-chair of the End Polio Now and currently serves as RI Trustee and a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland in Ontario.
Jones has been recognized with many awards, including the Service Above Self Award and the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, the YMCA Peace Medallion, and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, and she was the first Canadian to receive Wayne State University's Peacemaker of the Year Award.

Tom McHugh provided the Bright Futures update; 92% pledged $73,345 for a total of $84,945. With little persuasion many agreed to pledge an additional $20 to help reach our goal of $100,000. Thank you!
Neil DiLorenzo won the final wine pull.

Thanks to the Jane and Kyle everyone had a great time at the first social after Covid.

Ron Lester brought up the Covid response to polio citing two articles regarding the anti-vaccine movement; https://www.rotary.org/en/anti-vaccine-movement-may-have-global-repercussions-1 and https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/black-people-have-reasonable-hesitations-around-a-covid-19-vaccine-heres-what-experts-are-doing-to-address-it-163143608.html

From Jane:
Littleton Town Hall Theatre is TRYING very hard to present "Almost Heaven". They are still waiting for clearance from Arapahoe County. I have a TEMPORARY reservation for Sept 17th. for 20 people at $45 each. They have 260 seats in the theatre, but will only use 50 seats at each show. Let me know if you want to be added to the list. Previous checks for the April show were shredded. I will collect $ when this is definitely a go.
