February 23 marks an important date for us, the 110th anniversary of Rotary International. On this day in 1905, Rotary founder Paul Harris formed one of the world's first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Since then, Rotary has continued its commitment to service by providing clean water, improving maternal health, awarding scholarships, fighting diseases, and improving lives around the world.

This year, also marks the 30th anniversary of the PolioPlus program. Since the fight to end polio began, 2 billion children have been immunized, 10 million children have been saved from lifelong paralysis and 125 countries have been declared polio-free. During the week of February 17 - 23, share with others how we are "this close" to ending polio and highlight Rotary's 110 years of service.
Iris Price was inducted on February 19 as our newest member by Mary Kay Hasz.  Iris is a retired English and Reading teacher.
Her sponsor is Connie Golas and her mentor is Judy Rooney.

Chase Harvey a senior at ThunderRidge High School was recognized by the club at its Thursday, February 19 luncheon.  Chase was nominated by the History department due to his passion for history.  Chase lettered in Academics his Senior year with a GPA of better than 3.75.  His parents Chris and Karen Harvey joined Chase at our luncheon.  Chase has played varsity football all four years for the Grizzlies.  He received “Academic All State First Team” his senior year.  His leadership skills were recognized by his fellow teammates by being elected captain of the football team his senior year.  Chase informed the Rotary club members about his experience of being a member of “Principal’s Council” his junior year.  He and other selected students participated in discussions with the administration on potential changes to the school and its culture.  Chase is looking forward to college where he intends to study business and possibly pre-law.
Jacqueline de Peyer and Herb Weissenfels gave their Classifications Talks at the February 19 meeting.

Herb has Degrees in Physical Education, Math, Biology, Chemistry and School Administration.  He has taught, coached, or been a school administrator in New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, and Arizona.  Herb has served on several education Boards in Colorado and Arizona. He is a former Rotarian.

Jacqueline de Peyer grew up on a farm outside of Torrington, Wyoming where her parents still live.  They raised crops like sugar beets, corn and beans, as well as livestock.  She attended the University of Wyoming graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology, with an emphasis in Chemistry.  After graduation she moved to Boulder, Colorado for work and was then transferred to Texas.  After a tree years stay, she moved back to Wyoming in 2009 and she was working in Laramie, she met her husband Dan who at the time was attending Graduate School for International Studies.  Jacqueline's job was taking her all over the country and around the same time Dan got a teaching job at Platte Canyon HS in Bailey, Colorado.  Soon, Jacqueline followed taking a job in Colorado.  Jacqueline and Dan were married in the summer of 2012 in Centennial, Wyoming.  Her hobbies are traveling with her husband, running, golf - really any sport that will allow to be outside, farming and ranching, as well as reading and learning to play musical instruments.
