PUTT PUTT GOLF - A FUN FUNDRAISER!

HR Rotary had 3 teams at Saturday's IFCS annual fundraising event, Puttin' for a Purpose.  The purpose was to fill the food bank coffers - which they accomplished with 973 new food items. To top that off, they netted 40K to help fund the good work they do. Twenty five volunteers created fun activities for the 17 teams.  There were themed holes, where a volunteer would present a specific IFCS program and put forth a choice of 3 answers.  If the team got it right, they could take a point of their score for the hole.  They also had to dress up on a few holes - we particularly loved seeing the gentlemen wear the feather boas! It was a fun and toasty way to spend a summer morn, and lend a helping hand, to boot!

The Par 3 team: Captain Judy Rooney, Natasha Nola, Gail Mullen, Sue Bramley
Connie Golas headed up the Par 5 team made up of
Elizabeth Kringel, Iris Price and Connie's sister,
The Sunrise Club team was made up of Ann Mather,
Bob Stratton, Fred Warnnars and Jim Horner.  They looked tres chic in their feather boas!

We caught up with the famous Dave Lorenz, retired South Suburban Parks & Rec executive director. Under Lorenz’s leadership, the district developed the Goodson, Sheridan, Lone Tree and Buck recreation centers as well as the Holly Swim and Tennis Center, Cook Creek Swimming Pool, the Littleton Golf and Tennis Center and the Lone tree Tennis Centers. He has been an integral part of IFCS for many years.

If you have grandkids playing sports at the huge sports field at Colorado Blvd & C-470, you know they're named after Dave.
Sue Bramley demonstrated not only her golf prowess with her HOLE IN ONE! But also her ability to kneel on her replaced knees!

JOHN GERM, NEW RI PRESIDENT
On the international level, Rotary's new president is John Germ from Chattanooga, and chair of the International PolioPlus Committee.
"I envision Rotary boldly and creatively engaging the success of polio eradication, membership and identity issues, strengthening clubs, work with youth – our future lifeblood, and the creation of critical, strategic partnerships," says Germ. "The 2016-17 Rotary year offers a tremendous opportunity for Rotary International and the Foundation partnership unified and thriving, on all levels, via the six areas of focus."

Germ says no one should ever have to ask, "What is Rotary?"

"We will enhance Rotary's public image by successfully and enthusiastically marketing who we are, what amazing things we are doing, and incredibly, have done locally and globally," says Germ.  With the global economy still unpredictable, Germ says Rotary must make participation affordable and "also be unfailingly diligent in efforts to ensure we spend every dollar effectively and efficiently."
