Noon Meeting Notes & Announcements:

Happy Tuesday, friends. It is a cool day today as we look ahead to some very hot temperatures here later this week. Hopefully, everyone is enjoying the end of spring and the roll into summer with the solstice on Friday. It will be the longest day of the year, so if you plan to sit out on the patio to grill or hang out at a happy hour, bring sunscreen and a hat! We're supposed to see 100 degrees, they're saying!

Thanks to Terre Cone for taking notes for me last week. Here are the notes that she sent this morning. Terre, I appreciate your help.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week we had a visit from Dr. Michelle Leuck with the Children's Hospital Mental Health Research team. She humbly refers to herself as "Michelle."
She has a son who has struggled with his mental health for years and understands the rigors of the daily routine of caring for a child with Mental illness issues.
Our District Governor Elect, Cindy Chase, bestowed Polio Plus Foundation pins and certificates to several of our members. Cindy's father is a Polio survivor. I was so proud to support Polio Plus as my grandmother was a survivor as well. If you donate only $100 each year, you will be recognized as a supporter.
Tamie, Shrin, and Debby were congratulated by Dr. Leuck for their dedication to supporting a Mental Health Fellow in perpetuity through our Colorado Pediatric Mental Health Endowment.
Arthur announced that we will collect funds through Elaine in memory of our friend and brother, Phil Calderbank. Elaine hopes to be back with us on Thursday, June 19th.
We began taking nominations for 2 availabile seats, vacated by Chip Hartney and John Kennett. Several lovely ladies were either nominated or graciously put their names forward as contenders.
Family of Rotary for Paul DeCoste and Ann Lester, who is receiving alternate treatments. She and Ron plan to attend the US OPEN Tennis Tournament this fall. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
The two available seats are for our Board of Directors. We'll be taking nominations for 2 weeks and then Kari will send an email to members for the vote.
Changing of the Guard picnic will be held on Saturday, June 28th, from 12- 3 p.m. Delicious BBQ from GQ BBQ in Park Meadows will provide our entree, and baked beans.
Nancy Barton has organized this event and has asked members to bring either a salad, dessert, appetizer, or chips.
Beverages will be provided by the club. Kudos to Steve Miller, Jan Keyton, Kyle and Jane Kucharski, and Arthur for supplying the necessary ice, decorations, and beverages.
Nancy Barton has purchased 2 red and 2 white Franzia wine boxes. Steve is providing the beer, and Kyle and Jane are bringing the (non-alcoholic) beverages. Jan is providing the decorations and tablecloths. The Cones are providing the chafers and serving utensils Arthur will award gifts to our outstanding Rotarians.
Board of Trustees for our Foundation were announced. They are Ron Lester, Jeannie Taylor, and Brian Frevert.
A Paul Harris pin and certificate were awarded to Nancy Barton by John Kennett.
Please see Debbie Leonard and/or Michelle McCrea to sign up as a volunteer for our 4th of July parade. Be there at 7:30 a.m. to decorate. Several others are needed to pass out our Peach flyers.
Our very own, Bob Larson auctined off items donated by Elizabeth (an oil can shaped bottle of scotch, funny phrase socks, and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Terre got the Jack Daniels for Arthur and Kari the other bottle for her husband, Mark. Happy Father's Day gentlemen.
Please remember, our Bright Futures fundraising campaign begins on July 10th.
Cindy Chase and Dr. Michelle Leuck were our guests.
Our friend, Filippo Molinari is on his way home as of June 2nd. Filippo, it should be noted, was the only one in his photos with friends, who graduated with HIGHEST Honors from Rock Canyon.
He has promised to stay in touch and is looking forward to one more year of school in Italy before he figures out his University Studies. Filippo, thank you for the fun, the fabulous food from your Nonna, and for the recipes! Ciao for now!
Family of Rotary for Ann Lester, who is receiving alternate treatments. She and Ron plan to attend the US OPEN Tennis Tournament this fall. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
Paul DeCoste is still recovering at The Center at Lincoln. Today is his 37th day of recovery and he has dropped 47 lbs in that time, so he is working hard to increase his strength and mobility. Yesterday he tried stairs for the first time in a very long time. Progress is slow but it is starting to happen there. We do not know yet how long he will be there. Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Thank you all for your ongoing good thoughts. I hope to see you maybe at the Changing of the Guard picnic or a meeting soon.
Thanks, again, Terre, for your notes. Please remember, you all can help if you would like to take and email photos to me of the events we are doing or of meetings and speakers. ***Please mark “For the Wheel Spinner” in the Subject Line!***
Many of you will be traveling to Calgary next week. Best wishes to you all, and to Rotary Globally as we had the abrupt announcement of the withdrawal of the incoming President of RI and his replacement being named just in the past week. Life marches on, even when we lay our best plans. Safe travels to you all and please take pictures!
