LAST WEEK'S MEETING

Mark Brown gave his classification speech and talked about his lovely wife Kari and their little redheaded son.  Mark also talked about his work at  ECO Roof & Solar
Mike Foss was already known to us as the brains behind the Warrior Bonfire Program an organization created for service members who have been wounded in combat operations. The purpose of their programs is to encourage camaraderie between those that can fully understand the mindset of a combat wounded soldier and /or their spouse, foster healing through those relationships, inspire growth towards new passions and purpose post military service, or simply know they are not alone.

Our students will be coming through the holidays

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM:

ABBAS RAJABI, 5450 DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISIT

Abbas Rajabi, our new district governor will address the club this Thursday.

Abbas, an American by choice, grew up in Hamadan, Iran in a large family. His passion for education brought him to the United States where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas in Arlington. After working at several large companies, Abbas decided that his entrepreneurial spirit was too strong to deny. He began several small businesses in Texas, South Carolina and then Colorado while also building a family. Most recently, he is the founder and president of Mohegan Capital, a private real estate investment fund specializing in value-add and income producing industrial real estate.

He's shown here at our Gala last week along with fellow Southeast Rotary Club's Peter VanArsdale.  If you recall Peter spoke to us last February talking about refugees.

Be there or be square - don't miss this opportunity to meet Abbas!

GREETER SCHEDULE

November 2:  Cindy Begley & Mark McNary

COSTA RICA PREPARATION!
By Bill Simmermon
After lunch, the CR team deflated 30 soccer balls that we will transport to Costa Rica and provide to each of the schools as gifts along with the hundreds of much needed books that we will provide.

BRIAN WATSON RUNNING FOR COLORADO STATE TREASURER

We all enjoyed Brian's program a few weeks ago on Mountains of Opportunity & the Opportunity Coalition. Well, I just found out he's running for the state treasurer's office, as another former speaker, Walker Stapleton, moves on in his run for governor. Here's a link to Brian's announcement. If it's not a live link, copy and paste into your browser address bar. http://mailchi.mp/8a77962d28bc/im-running-for-colorado-treasurer-and-heres-what-that-means-3129?e=0c2dde5779

BTW, Brian sent me several more copies of his book, The 7 Rings, a journey to a balanced life of peace, passion and purpose. If you missed getting one, please email sueannebramley@yahoo.com

In the previous two months  MVHS Interact has gotten a strong start to the year by starting off many of our monthly events. This year we have 61 members and are excited to see what the rest of the year will hold for us and the rest of our community through our service.

Bake Sale (9/13): Students were asked to individually wrap treats which we sold at the Homecoming Bake Sale. One hour of community service was given to each student if a sufficient amount of baked goods were brought in. We went to the Unified and Powderpuff games to raise money for the Unified team.  This event was from 5:30-8:30 where we took shifts selling the baked goods for $1.

Peaceful Schools (9/7, 10/5): Every month, we visit Summit View Elementary and read books to the students. The books teach the kids life lessons like standing up against bullying, emotions, accepting others, etc. We do this event from 8:15 - 9:30 on Thursdays.

Bessie's Hope (9/23): For this event we go to Brookdale and spend time with people affected by Alzheimer's or Dementia. We do crafts, sing songs, and play games with them to brighten their day. We do this event monthly on Saturdays from 10 - 11:30.
Here they are at Project C.U.R.E (9/21): We go to the Project CURE building in Centennial. We sort medical supplies which go directly to areas that request them. This is a favorite among many of our members both due to how fun the event is and because we get to Interact with Rotary members. It goes from 6:30 - 8:30.
