ROTARY READERS ENDS YEAR ON A HIGH NOTE...ER, PIE NOTE!

Hats off to Iris Price and Judy Rooney on a wildly successful year of Rotary Readers!

We've had the program up and running for 3 years, starting at Bear Canyon Elementary.  In the second year, Emmie Rooney, Judy's daughter-in-law approached Judy about adding Sedalia Elementary, where she's a teacher, a school in our district that really needed a helping hand. Sedalia was added last year.

Enter Connie Golas and the Community Service committee who 'adopted' the school for our club.  We're now assisting the school with supplies as well as reading.

We ended the year with a pizza party for the 1st & 2nd graders who reaped the benefit of club members going once a week to assist in reading comprehension.

This is what the hallway looks like!

Many thanks to Natasha Nola, Iris Price, Connie Golas, Paul Campbell and Sue Bramley for overseeing the pies, drinks and classroom entertainment!

It only took 10 pizzas and 50 juice boxes to make these kids' day!

GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER-MOTOWN AT HUDSON GARDENS CONCERT!
Sunday, June 4 is the annual social to Hudson Gardens.  This year they've picked a group near and dear to my teenage years - THE FOUR TOPS - be still my beating heart!  Who could ever forget Reach Out, Standing in the Shadows of Love and Baby, I Need Your Loving, to name a few!!

Tickets are $35 each and you can sign up with Steve Miller.  The concert starts at 7:30, but if you've been there before, you know you have to arrive early to get a good seat.  By early, I don't mean 6:30 - try 5pm!  Thank heavens it'll be a pot luck, so you can eat and drink to your heart's content for the 2 hours before the concert even starts.  But you won't be eating and drinking once they take the stage, you'll be ROCKIN' OUT TO THE SOUNDS OF MOTOWN!

MORE CONCERTS - HERITAGE PARK STARTS JUNE 9
HRCA kicks off it's summer concert series at Heritage Park, near the post office on Thursday, June 8 at 6:30. These are such fun events that the club has decided to make it a weekly activity.  Appointed club members will scarf up as much space as possible for all of us to come, sit together, eat, drink and enjoy the tunes.  If you want more info, contact Michelle McRae.  June 8 will be a Colorado favorite, Chris Daniels & the Kings. We are so fortunate to live in a community which provides these activities!

CHANGING OF THE GUARD AND FAMILY PICNIC
June 24 is the day to see and be seen at the HR Rotary picnic!  The club will provide the entrĂ©e, beer & wine.  Attendees will bring a potpourri of appetizers, salads and desserts.  It will be a blast, so get it on your calenders!

BTW, new location - the picnic will be held at Northridge Park, 8800 S. Broadway, behind the rec center.
