Well, we have RYLA to thank for our newest member, Debby Henry. Her daughter Carter was one of our campers this summer! This scenario has happened before, when Cindy Begley joined due to son Zack's RYLA sponsorship.
Debby, a former teacher, is involved with HRA (Highlands Ranch Aquatics). Take note, committee members, the kids involved with this are always looking for community service hours! Feel free to tap Debby when you're looking for weekend volunteers! Michelle McRae will be Debby's sponsor.

These events are a pot luck, so everyone shares in the food and beverage. Our hosts will come up with a theme that they'll share with you once you've signed up, which will be at this week's meeting. Such a great way to meet other members, so don't be shy - go on over for a fun night!
KARLA'S KIDS INTERACT UPDATES
MOUNTAIN VISTA HIGH SCHOOL
Thank you for your amazing ongoing support of our club here at Mountain Vista, we are so thankful for everything you've helped our club accomplish so far! We are all very excited to continue our partnership with you as we begin a new school year full of great service events. These are the events we were involved with for the month of September 2016:
September 8, Peaceful Schools Visit - We visited our second grade classrooms for the first time this year, and it went very well. Club members read stories and performed activities with the elementary school students in order to foster an environment of safety and understanding within their classrooms
September 10, Bessie's Hope Visit - We visited Brookdale Senior Living Center and met with many of their residents. Each month, we do a themed craft, game, and song in order to engage and entertain the residents.
September 10, Campus Clean-Up at MVHS - We spent an afternoon cleaning up all around the Mountain Vista campus, improving the everyday experience of all students. Much of this clean up was focused on or near the athletic facilities, creating a better environment for those activities as well.
September 15, Project C.U.R.E. - We sorted donated medical supplies at Project C.U.R.E.'s international headquarters with members of the Rotary Club, unboxing and sorting various medical supplies to be sent out to third world countries
September 28, Unified Bake Sale - We hosted a bake sale during homecoming events. All proceeds went to benefit the Unified program at MVHS, which aims to provide accessible sports teams for disabled students. We raised $250, and thank you in advance for the matching funds you will generously donate to maximize our impact on this beneficial program.
This month was a great start to the year, and we have lots of new members that are excited to participate! Thank you again for all your incredible support of our club!
MVHS Interact Club Secretary,
Sydney Murphy
MOUNTAIN RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Hello Rotary Friends, We hope you are doing well. We have some news to share with you for the month of September.
On September 2 we held a Root Beer Float fundraiser for the whole school to raise money for the American Transplant Foundation. A student at our school had a transplant using funds from this foundation so we thought it would be nice to make a donation on her behalf. We earned $267 after subtracting the cost of for the supplies. The volleyball teams at our school are selling lollipops to help contribute to this donation.
On September 10, we visited our friends at Brookdale (Bessie's hope) and had a great time. We made crafts, sang songs and had some great talks with them. Afterward, we also participated in a campus cleanup where, along with students from Mountain Vista High School, we picked up trash to make our schools look nice. We collected lots of bags of trash!
We are now up to 68 members at the middle school and have great attendance at our meetings and activities. We are excited for October's plans. Thank you so much for supporting us, we appreciate it.
Please join the Highlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Club for our regular meetings. The meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 8:30 am at the south campus of Childrens Hospital at 1811 Plaza Dr. Highlands Ranch. We offer a delicious continental breakfast ($7.00 for members and guests). We also have wonderful speakers you will enjoy. This is a great opportunity for a make up meeting or for potential members that cannot attend noon meetings. If you plan to attend, please notify Paul Campbell (paulcamp64@gmail.com) or Joel Johnson (jsjohns46@yahoo.com) a day in advance. We look forward to seeing you!!!
