GREETERS, MEETERS BECOME CLUB LEADERS!
|
The clipboard sign up sheet is a valuable tool for many groups, not just our club. I think we got the idea from Star Trek! But wherever the idea came from, don't forget to sign up to be a GREETER so you're an active part of our new program.

Three cheers for Jim Kelly, who stepped right up to be our first month's greeter and friendly face!
|
Now THIS is what potential members want to see when they walk in the door! We'll be practicing this maneuver soon!

The Membership Committee, led by Bob Walsh, has dusted off a program we used to do -- weekly greeters. With all the prospective new members and guests that visit our club each week, we need to make them feel welcome. Sometimes we're so busy finding members we need to talk to or catching up with friends, that we forget about the basics of welcoming unfamiliar faces.
Starting last week, we now have 'official' greeters. This means a friendly face from our club will welcome, shake hands with and usher all visitors to visit with a group of Rotarians. And guess what that means - a new sign up sheet! What you'll sign up for is one month - that's only 4 weeks of greeting. If you can't make it to a meeting when you're the monthly greeter, it's your responsibility to find a sub. That isn't hard - your friends will gladly help you out for a week.
Thanks to Jim Kelly and Bob Walsh who are our first month's greeters. So plan to take on a month to help make our club more friendly to visitors and foster new friendships with new members!
AND SPEAKING OF CLIPBOARDS...
Another will be going around this week to sign up to do the weekly inspiration. Tim Sparks is working hard to provide each members' perspective on an inspiration so we don't get the same message each week. Please help him out, sign up and then show up! As inspiring as Tim is, he doesn't want to do the inspiration each week!
GREAT GALA!
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JAN
The Gala is where the money comes from to support Ronald McDonald house, Military, Community Service, International, Rotary Readers, Scholarships, Costa Rica Books, Peaceful schools, DETF, Best Buddies, the HR Garden, IFCS. Gala generates over $50,000 for us every year. What we need is to get members to bring in outside sponsors and guests.
PEACH & PEAR SALE IS UPON US:
JUST PEACHY!

~ From the Queen Bee Coupon blog
Don't be afraid to buy several boxes of peaches at this year's peach sale at https://rotarypeachsales.com/. The possibilities with what to do with them are endless (baking, canning, freezing). Here's how to freeze them:
Start off with ripe fruit. Using a paring knife, score a big X into the bottom of each peach. Not too deep, just enough to cut the skin. Get a big sauce pan of water boiling on the stove. Drop 3-4 peaches into the boiling water, let sit for about 30 seconds. Use a slotted spoon and transfer peaches from boiling water to ice bath (large bowl of water with lots of ice). Remove peaches from ice water and the skin should peel back with ease!
After you’ve peeled your peaches, slice them up. You can dice or slice – whatever you like. Be careful, they are slippery when they have been peeled. Put all your sliced peaches in a big bowl and add lemon juice. I had about 10 Cups of peaches and added the juice of one large lemon. This is going to help them from turning brown (oxidizing) when they are exposed to air. If you don’t care about color – skip this step. Line cookie sheets with wax paper and spread out the peach slices. We are doing this because we want them to freeze separately. If you throw them all in the freezer in a bag, you will have a HUGE glob of peaches that will be hard to work with. Pop the cookie sheets into the freezer and leave them in there until the peach slices are completely frozen. Probably about 6-8 hours? I let mine freeze over night. Pop them off the wax paper and put them into a freezer Ziploc bag.
There you have it! These should keep for a few months in the freezer. You can pull out a handful of peaches for smoothies, desserts or even eat them frozen. And with every bite, remember you're helping support a student to go to RYLA!
