DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK'S MEETING: HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED
TERRY NOLAN:
HIGHLANDS RANCH METRO DISTRICT GENERAL MANAGER
Terry talked about what a great place we live in! His presentation gave a fabulous overview of current stats on the area. Here is a link to his presentation.
Members and their families attended the annual picnic at Civic Green Park on Saturday. Changing it up from our usual format, President Jan Selinfreund also used the event to distribute her President's Awards, as she's in month six of her 18 month term. Party boy Steve Miller brought pounds of KFC for the entrée and everyone else brought an array of dips, salads, side dishes and desserts to round out the fare. Jan recognized the following for their work this year: Ray Anderson, Cindy Begley, Jim & Sue Bramley, Arthur Cone, Scott Davenport, Debbie Doig, Fred Erb, Mark Eberly, Connie Golas, Reen Gottron, Mary Kaye Hasz, Jim Kelley, Jan & Tom Keyton, Elizabeth Kringle, Jane & Kyle Kucharski, Bob Larson, Li Liu, Michelle McRae, Steve Miller, Gail Mullin, Lee Mulbery, Shrin Murthy, Patrick Prutsman, Jerry Selinfreund, Bill Simmermon, Tim Sparks, Tracie Stander, Marion Trummer, Charles Tutor, and Jerry Wilford.

Jerry photo bombed Jan & Shrin Murthy's photo moment!
Steve & Janet Miller brought their daughter & grandkids to watch Steve receive his presidential award
Li Liu also was presented with an award. By the time all the awards were presented, Jan was paparazzi-worthy, what with all the photos she's in!
We had a full house!
Our club donated this pavilion to Highlands Ranch and we love to use it each year.
JoAnn Six and Fred Erb having a blast!
The new go-getter on the programming committee, Zig
Berzins and his lovely wife, Christine...who happens to be an outstanding mah jongg teacher!
Jerry's favorites: Grandchildren Rize & Royal, and the Rotary Pavilion!
It was no surprise to picnic attendees that Jan named Jerry as Rotarian of the Year. His tireless work for our club over the past eight years is evident in so many of our projects. He has taken his role on the Foundation to the highest level with his strong sense of fiduciary responsibility. His leadership of the Foundation has led to an increased corpus through excellent management of the investments and banking. Jerry spends hours vetting our financial recipients /clients. For many, he has planned out year-by-year donations. And his grant writing is legendary, making our club one of the most productive in the district.
Hats off for a huge asset to our club - Jerry Wilford!
We've had and are planning on some great upcoming programs. that, combined with announcements, is pushing our club meetings right up against our 1:30 pm end time. President Jan is a huge proponent of Happy Bucks as well, as it helps us learn more about what's going on in our members lives. We're looking for ways to tighten up the meeting timeline. SO...
If you have an announcement where you want to speak at the podium, we're asking you to sit at the lunch table to the right of the podium. That way, you can pop right up, talk, and get back to your seat in less time. And as an added benefit, you'll sit with and get to know different people!
IFCS HAS 2 BIG PROJECTS THIS SUMMER - JOIN THE FUN!
The annual putt putt golf event for IFCS is this Saturday! If you still want to play, call Connie Golas, 303-875-5666, or Elizabeth Kringel at 970-799-4321. With kids out of school, our food banks are in need. This event helps refill the coffers.
YOU CAN ALSO MAKE A DONATION TO OUR TEAMS! Connie & Elizabeth can help with that.
AND, bring you canned food donation to Thursday's meeting so we're multi-faceted in our giving.
Believe it or not, we're also getting ready for the school backpack programs. We're in mid-June and the backpacks will be distributed in early August, so time is of the essence! This year, we have a 2-pronged approach. The club will donate 50 packs to IFCS and Douglas/Elbert Task Force.
Many thanks to Jan Selinfreund, who recently worked with a WalMart exec to get 50 packs donated! So all we have to do if fill them. Carolyn Bradish is overseeing this project and is in need for school supplies and $25 gift cards for shoes and clothes, then helpers to pack them up for delivery to the two organizations.
These are 2 great programs - so get behind them and make food and school supplies a priority this summer.
LAST CHANCE FOR PHANTOM TICKETS!
You can still get tickets for the Saturday, September 10, at 7:30 PM performance of "The Phantom of The Opera". Tickets $95 per person. Contact Jerry Selinfreund at 303-550-4242.
Please join the Highlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Club for our regular meetings. The meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 8:30 am at the south campus of Childrens Hospital at 1811 Plaza Dr. Highlands Ranch. We offer a delicious continental breakfast ($7.00 for members and guests). We also have wonderful speakers you will enjoy. This is a great opportunity for a make up meeting or for potential members that cannot attend noon meetings. If you plan to attend, please notify Ann Mather (Annmather@aol.com) or Paul Campbell (Paulcamp64@gmail.com) a day in advance. We look forward to seeing you!!!
