DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK’S MEETING?  HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED:
Heidi Bowman, PR rep from Fresh Harvest Food Bank gave an overview of their program.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP CANDIDATE: JESSICA BRYANT
Highlands Ranch High School student, Jessica Bryant, is a natural born scientist.  As early as age 8, she was conducting experiments.  After achieving honors & A.P. level in bio, chem, zoology  & math, she's planning to major in biochemistry.  In her spare time, she's involved in volunteering in activities that surround science, such as the Alzheimer's Assoc and Project C.U.R.E. "my interest in the sciences continues to drive me in my actions and decisions to this day, and will most likely continue to do so for the entirety of my life."
A nice part of having students present is mingling with members after the meeting!

11 YEAR OLD CLUB CELEBRATES IT'S SECOND ANNIVERSARY -- WHAT??
By Ann Mather

The Highlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Club is happy to be celebrating its second anniversary under the reach of the noon club.  The group started as a charter with the Littleton Club in 2005, but suffered diminished membership in 2014. Mary Kay Hasz offered them the opportunity to join the noon club in a new type of partnership which has turned into a mutually beneficial partnership.

The Sunrise members enjoy doing "hands on" volunteering and have been very active the past 2 years. Their latest project has been facilitating a Peaceful Schools Program. Students in Thunder Ridge High School read to first graders in Eldorado and Coyote Creek Elementary once a month. The books and materials are designed to teach the 4 Way Test and help children identify their feelings and make good decisions when confronted with adversity.

A sample of the projects and organizations supported by the Sunrise club include IFCS backpack program, IFCS Thanksgiving and Mothers Day Basket programs, food drive benefiting IFCS, Kohls Santa Clothes, Denver Indian Center, Children's Hospital 9 Health Fair and Highlands Ranch Turkey Trot. We have also participated in several of the noon club's various programs. Our goal is to participate in a volunteer opportunity every month and help the citizens of our local community.

Please visit our meetings and meet your Sunrise members. Our meetings are at the Children's Hospital Campus in Highlands Ranch the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 8:30. We enjoy a delicious continental breakfast and outstanding guest speakers. We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with the noon club!

The club has great field trips! Here they are at the Oct., 2015 tour of the Ralph Carr Judicial Center.
