BRIAN WATSON FROM THE OPPORTUNITY COALITION WOWED MEMBERS

Brian's vision of mixing work with good works was a winner in all our minds.  In addition to serving as CEO of Northstar Commercial Partners, he also hosts Mountains of Opportunity - a positive TV show,  the Opportunity Coalition which helps to promote and facilitate a business-friendly environment that encourages free enterprise, entrepreneurship and collaboration. Its intent is to create more opportunity, quality employment and connections for Colorado's citizens, and the monthly CEO Nuggets of Wisdom luncheon.

The next event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, featuring Margaret Kelly, Re/Max CEO. Brian issued our club a standing invitation.  For more information, visit http://opportunitycoalition.com/events/

BTW, Brian is sending me more books - let me know if you missed picking one up last week.

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM:

LINDSEY SCHWARTZ - CBS' 48 HOURS PRODUCER

This speaker is another must see!  Lindsey has been a reporter for 48 hours for 7 years. Prior to that she was with Dateline  NBC. She has covered stories from Princess Diana's funeral in London to 9/11 to the Aurora Theater shooting and many more. Lindsey has won many Emmy awards for investigative reporting.

NEW FOOD DRIVE - JELLY!

Soon you'll be noticing some jam jar pins on the Community Service committee members.  That's to launch our new food drive - jam & jelly!  It seems the IFCS food bank gets plenty of peanut butter & bread, but no jelly. So whenever you're at the grocery store, pick up a jar or 2 and bring it in to any meeting.  A committee member will gladly take it for our monthly donation. This will be an ongoing project.

PRESIDENT'S RECEPTION FOR NEW MEMBERS

Are you a new member in the last year? President Cindy is hosting a reception for you!  Saturday evening, Oct. 7 is the place to see and be seen, a place to get better acquainted with other new members and brainstorm directions you'd like to see the club go towards.  We're calling you the 'class of 16/17' just to put everyone in the wonderful mindset of our college years where the world was our oyster!  Spouses are welcome and a great way for them to bond as well.

It starts at 5:30 and is an hors d'oeuvre pot luck.  Just to get things rolling, bring a bottle-or 2-so you can learn to party like a rock star - er, I mean Rotarian!  For more information, contact Elaine Calderbank or Natasha Nola.

GREAT GALA!

JUST 3 WEEKS AWAY!

Have we got great prizes for the silent auction!  There is a ton of wine and wine accessories, fantastic baskets - put together by our own Carolyn Bradish and Marion Trummer, a beautiful pair of earrings, restaurant gift certificates galore!  One restaurant, Big Bill's Pizza, took the gift certificate thing one step further.  The winner will bring friends & family for an afternoon pizza lunch AND pizza throwing lesson!  So get those phones out on Saturday, Oct. 14, check out all the cool prizes and start bidding, my friends!
