DINNER ANYONE? HOW ABOUT RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Another successful evening with Chef Cone and his sous chefs - Nancy Akins, Connie Golas, Jan & Tom Keyton and Debby Doig. For you new members, we cook for families who have sick little ones at Children's Hospital and are staying at the Ronald McDonald House 3 or 4 times a year. If you're interested in participating, contact Connie Golas.
WE'VE OUTDONE OURSELVES AT NCOA GOLF TOURNEY
The NCOA Red White & Blue golf tournament is this Friday and our club is on fire! We've exceeded last year's numbers and broke a record with 51 participants! That's 21 Rotarians and 30 sponsored military personnel - woo hoo!
Just a reminder that everyone participating needs to have a photo ID to get on the base. Since everyone is carpooling, drivers must have preauthorization of their drivers licenses which you can do through Jerry Selinfreund. Drivers also need their proof of insurance.
Be sure to check in at Gate 5 - not the main gate. Gate 5 will have the list of tournament participants. To get to Gate 5, take Hwy 115 past the main gate.
The Mountain Post Chapter of the Noncommissioned Officers Association (NCOA) will be our hosts at the Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club, located right on the Ft. Carson base. The tournament proceeds are contributed to various projects that support soldiers, veterans & family members throughout the Fort Carson and Colorado springs area. Come out and join us !!!

GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR INNER-MOTOWN AT HUDSON GARDENS CONCERT!
Sunday, June 4 is the annual social to Hudson Gardens. This year they've picked a group near and dear to my teenage years - THE FOUR TOPS - be still my beating heart! Who could ever forget Reach Out, Standing in the Shadows of Love and Baby, I Need Your Loving, to name a few!!
Tickets are $35 each and you can sign up with Steve Miller. The concert starts at 7:30, but if you've been there before, you know you have to arrive early to get a good seat. By early, I don't mean 6:30 - try 5pm! Thank heavens it'll be a pot luck, so you can eat and drink to your heart's content for the 2 hours before the concert even starts. But you won't be eating and drinking once they take the stage, you'll be ROCKIN' OUT TO THE SOUNDS OF MOTOWN!
MORE CONCERTS - HERITAGE PARK STARTS JUNE 9
HRCA kicks off it's summer concert series at Heritage Park, near the post office on Thursday, June 8 at 6:30. These are such fun events that the club has decided to make it a weekly activity. Appointed club members will scarf up as much space as possible for all of us to come, sit together, eat, drink and enjoy the tunes. If you want more info, contact Michelle McRae. June 8 will be a Colorado favorite, Chris Daniels & the Kings. We are so fortunate to live in a community which provides these activities!
CHANGING OF THE GUARD AND FAMILY PICNIC
June 24 is the day to see and be seen at the HR Rotary picnic! Jan Selinfreund will hand over the gavel to incoming president, Cindy Begley. Jan will also present her president's awards to various members who have been instrumental to both her and the club during her tenure. The club will provide the entrée, beer & wine. Attendees will bring a potpourri of appetizers, salads and desserts. It will be a blast, so get it on your calenders!
BTW, new location - the picnic will be held at Northridge Park, 8800 S. Broadway, behind the rec center.
RYLA CAMP IS SET
We're proud to announce that Highlands Ranch Rotary is sponsoring 10 students to RYLA and 5 students to Young RYLA! Hip Hip Hurray!
THANK YOUS TO CLUB MEMBERS!
Thanks to Reen Gottron for the fantastic job she's done on the club display. It shows photos of Rotarians volunteering and outlines our club activities. It was debuted at the District Conference. It's now available for use at various events to introduce participants to our club. | Thanks to Lee McCue and Sue Bramley for overseeing our club's participation on the Women of Achievement event. They chaired the committee, presented to the board and Foundation, attended meetings, wrote and submitted all the nomination forms, along with the help of Carolyn Bradish and JoAnn Six. They also promoted the event at club meetings and in the Wheel Spinner |
Thanks to Lee Mulberry for his work on the new type of membership, Rotoraction. With this designation, our club, with the help of Lee, is pioneering ideas to attract new, younger members | |
A LITTLE CLUB HISTORY AND A DUCKY DERBY
Ray Anderson, assistant District Governor, took a few minutes to remind/inform members of the role our club has had in the formation of various clubs. We sponsored the Centennial club in 2001. We also sponsored the Castle Pines club due to the efforts of Charles Tudor. Although this club has struggled, it has finally found it's footing and with 18 members strong, we are seeing good things from them, including their partnership with the 2 Castle Rock clubs on their Ducky Derby coming up on June 3 - so check it out!
We also helped out with the forming of the Five Points club. These are some of the reasons our club was honored at the District Conference.
