DID YOU MISS LAST WEEK'S MEETING?  HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:
COSTA RICA PLANS ARE COMING TOGETHER
Plans are coming together for the next Costa Rica trip put together by the International Service Committee.  Participants will leave on January 8, 2017, starting work on Monday.

Phil Nordik, from the Peace Corps, was the speaker and discussed Jump Start Costa Rica program.  He explained the need to teach English to youngsters, as English is the required language to move on to high school.  They see the biggest drop out rate by students who haven't mastered English.  It's an intense program - 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks.

Marion Trummer discussed her upcoming trip to Costa Rica to distribute wheelchairs.

If you're interested in going on this trip, Bill's committee meets at Lone Tree the 3rd Thursday of every month BEFORE our weekly meeting.  Call Bill for more info.

WHAT'S ON THE PROGRAM AT THIS WEEK'S MEETING??

The clubs first voter education debate will be held Thursday.  Amendment 69 - Cover Colorado.  Zig put together a great day where our debaters are Colorado's State Treasurer, Walter Stapleton, to present the 'con' side of the argument and a representative from Colorado Care, the not-for-profit promoting Amendment #69 will present the 'pro' side.  Justin Vaughn has agreed to moderate.

We will have 10-15 guests joining us that day.  They could be potential members, so be sure to introduce yourselves!

OTHER NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT

D/E TASKFORCE HAS A NEW COAT...OF PAINT, THAT IS!

Thanks to our crack teams, painting of the entrance at the Task Force is lookin' good!  Last Monday & Tuesday we had Rotarians hard at work, cleaning, prepping, priming, painting, cleaning up and putting away tools.

Hat's off to Steve Miller and Tamara Fennell on Monday who stayed until 8:30 pm so everything was set up for team 2.  Tuesday we had Connie Golas, Elizabeth Kringel and Patrick Prutsman who got it all done by 7 pm.

Jim Bramley put Service Above Self on this project, as he picked up the supplies, got volunteers trained and set up with jobs and spent both days painting and overseeing work.  According to Jim, "All the participants were skeptical about completing the job in two days, once we saw what the Task Force expected us to do.  I'm happy to report we got phase 1 done!"
