IFCS NIBBLES & SIPS GALA
Forty-nine Rotarians from both the noon and morning clubs attended the 2016 Nibbles & Sips fundraiser Saturday night where HR Rotary was honored! Besides visiting food & drink stations, there were prizes galore for attendees to bid on. All this was to benefit the great work done by Integrated Family Community Services, formerly Interfaith Community Services. The funds raised at this event go a long way in financing the work done by IFCS, which provides basic human services and enrichment programs to low-income family members, using community resources. IFCS fosters self-sufficiency and respects the dignity of each client.
We're waiting to see the final numbers, but I can personally say, our group contributed in a huge way! Jan & Jerry presented a $10,000 check from Rotary and Francis Blizard made substantial contribution as well, as a diamond sponsor. And all our attendees paid dearly for their auction items! It was a grand night for HR Rotary!

WHO IS JOANN SIX
JoAnn's last name, Six, is Dutch. One of she &
her husband's most memorable meetings was at the
University of WI v. CO football game, where they sat
in an area with Robert Six (then president of Continental
Airlines, and married to Audrey Meadows)! Yep, the
two men discovered shared relatives!
WHERE FROM/COLLEGE
I was raised with one brother in Mt. Horeb, WI, 30 minutes from Madison. I attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, transferring to U of Wisconsin, pursuing a speech major. I was married in 1958 and spent the next 57 years in Madison.
CAREER
I was married right out of college. My life consisted of homemaking, volunteering – especially for community organizations and church activities. I realize I was fortunate to be an ‘at home mom’. In 1975 I was widowed with the responsibility of two teenage daughters.
HOBBIES
Over the years my hobbies have included horseback riding, Nordic skiing, traveling, cooking, needlepoint & reading.
ROTARY PASSION
My Rotary Club experience has been, and continues to be the good life for me! My passion over the years has been to be involved in community service, especially fundraising for high school scholarships and community grants.
FAVORITE VACATION SITE
Any and all places in Italy, altho Napa Valley rates a close second!
SOMETHING COOL ABOUT YOU THAT NO ONE KNOWS!
I take my Norwegian heritage very seriously. I’ve toured Norway and remain on the Board of Directors for the Norwegian American Genealogy Center and Naeseth Library in Madison.
