PRESIDENT'S RECEPTION FOR NEW MEMBERS

Photos by Phil Calderbank & Sue Bramley
15 new members attended the hors d'oeurve spread, cocktails and camaraderie! Many, many thanks to Cindy Begley for hosting this fun event!
Mary Kay took a moment from the lovely evening to enlighten attendees on our club and Rotary in general.
Phil Calderbank also enlightened attendees on use of the Club Runner app and how much it's helped him keep abreast with both club and district activities
Natasha Nola & Elaine Calderbank made this event happen!  They sent the invitations, welcomed guests and served as set up and clean up crews!

HALLOWEEN BREAKFAST AT RONALD McDONALD HOUSE

Our next Ronald McDonald extravaganza will be a Halloween party on Saturday, October 28 at the Denver location, 1300 E. 21st Ave.  This will be so much fun!  We've got kids coming to do a craft project with the residents, we've got fun Halloween food created by our talented resident chef, Arthur Cone, and we've got GREAT volunteers coming to help cook & serve those going through trauma with a family member at Children's Hospital.

For our new members, since 1979, Ronald McDonald House® Charities of Denver has offered a loving home away from home to families needing to be near their seriously ill or injured children while they’re being treated at metropolitan area hospitals. One of our community service activities has 'member cuisine teams' who prepare a meal at the Ronald McDonald houses every quarter.  We go, prep and serve the meal, while meeting their guests and offering them conversation with regular people, not hospital personnel.  It's a great hands on activity where you're not only helping, but also bonding with club members!

There are still 2 more spots and 2 alternate positions left.  If you want to participate, email or call Sue Bramley.

NEW FOOD DRIVE - JELLY!

Soon you'll be noticing some jam jar pins on the Community Service committee members.  That's to launch our new food drive - jam & jelly!  It seems the IFCS food bank gets plenty of peanut butter & bread, but no jelly. So whenever you're at the grocery store, pick up a jar or 2 and bring it in to any meeting.  A committee member will gladly take it for our monthly donation. This will be an ongoing project.
