YOUR CHANCE TO HEAR ABOUT THE ORION SPACE PROJECT
By Cindy Begley
On April 7 Michael Begley will be a most interesting speaker. Michael is the Certified Principal Engineer responsible for the technical integrity of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (or GN&C) System of the Orion spacecraft at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company in Waterton Canyon. He has been working on Orion for nearly ten years, through the last two flawless flight tests, and looks forward to returning people to the moon. Prior to joining the Orion program, Mike was Boeing’s lead engineer for the GN&C system on the International Space Station program. In ancient times he worked Ascent flight control for the Space Shuttle program, and helped develop ways to jam Soviet radar systems.
A father of four, he lives in Highlands Ranch where he is thrilled to be married to the Highlands Ranch Rotary Club’s President-Elect!
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RONALD McDONALD BREAKFAST
On Saturday, March 12, a group of members/chefs assisted our chef extraordinaire, Arthur Cone at the Denver Ronald McDonald House breakfast. They served eggs, blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, potatoes and more! "It was a great event! The children were adorable and the adults very thankful." Said Tracie Stander. Besides Tracie and her family, Connie Golas, Elizabeth Kringel, Shirn Murthy, Natasha Nola, Arthur and his two daughters participated.
What a spread, thanks HR Rotary!
Shirn & Arthur share a cup of coffee before the breakfast rush!

CAREER:
I am an attorney with Chalat Hatten Koupal & Banker, Denver. We are often referred to as “The Original Ski Lawyers” since my partner, Jim Chalat, had a big part in the drafting of Colorado’s Ski Safety Act, which is a model for other states.

ROTARY PASSION
The hands-on opportunity to help others in our community
VACATION
Anywhere in Europe. My wife, Brandi, and I have taken our children, Hunter and daughter Hannah, a freshman at CSU. to France, England, Italy and Spain, and a trip planned to Germany this summer. I feel so fortunate that our children still want to vacation with us!
SOMETHING COOL NO ONE KNOWS!
I served as a municipal judge and a county magistrate for Dallas County for several years. My duties included morning trips to the jail to arraign all of the people who had been arrested the night before and getting called in the middle of the night to sign warrants. Another interesting fact is that my sister Sharon Hatten is the Chief Municipal Judge for Midland, Texas.
The district conference, April 22-24 in Breckenridge, is going to be a crowning glory to Mary Kay's district governorship!
