Good for a make up or for our friends and acquaintances that would appreciate a Rotary Club with a morning meeting time. If you plan to attend, please let Ann Mather at 303-570-9838 (Annmather@aol.com) or Linda Blackstone at 303-992-5625 know the day before.

The Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch recognized two outstanding students at its November 13th luncheon.
Parker Groves, a senior at Rock Canyon High School, was accompanied by his parents, K.C. and Darci Groves. In addition his language teacher, Margaret Motz and the assistant principal, Christopher Page were guests. Parker was nominated by his Spanish and English Department. He enjoys learning languages and anticipates studying foreign language when he goes to college. His language teacher shared a story about how Parker was challenged to do a French project. The project became being introduced to a French African family who shared a meal with him in their home. He enjoys broadening his cultural horizons and briefly informed the members about trips to Southwest Indian reservations where he learned about the difficulties many of the Native Americans face. It was a joy to have Parker as our guest.
Trevor McCord is a senior at ThunderRidge High School. His mother, Kristin and school administrator, Dave Stickland, were his guests. Trevor excels in his studies, specifically math. He would like to become an engineer or an actuarial mathematician. He has applied to many universities, including Princeton, Harvard, Stanford and MIT. Trevor is active in his school and has shown leadership skills by being Captain of his Golf and Tennis teams. Trevor was one of three students to attend the University of Colorado Captain leadership conference. Here he gained valuable insight into how to be the most effective athletic leader possible. An interesting passion that Trevor spoke to the club about music and his alternative band, Sunset Summer. Trevor plays the drums. The band has written three songs and working on more. These songs have been professionally recorded and are even available for download on iTunes. It was a pleasure to have Trevor as our guest.

Tuesday, December 16, the Satellite Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch will be holding their holiday celebration. The festivities begin at Lansdowne Bistro and Pub in Highlands Ranch from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for our happy hour party. The Gardens is transformed with over 100,000 lights, a crystal lake display, visits with Santa and wagon rides. The winter wonderland is open until 8:30 pm. It is a walking tour approximately 3/4 of a mile in length that takes about 30-90 minutes to enjoy the show.
Tickets for Satellite members are $8.00 which will cover the cost of your Hudson Gardens ticket and appetizers at Lansdowne. Tickets for guests are $20.00 which will cover your Hudson Gardens ticket and appetizers at Lansdowne. There will be a cash bar at the Lansdowne party.
In case of inclement weather, happy hour at Lansdowne will be held, but you do not have to visit the Gardens that night. Tickets are good through January 3 which is the final evening of the event.

Frank Buturla gave a great Classification Talk on November 13. Frank took us on his journey from growing up in the steel mill area of West Virginia
where polio hit the area with a vengeance to a successful career as a mining engineer. Along the way we discovered that
he has worked in many different countries. Frank is now retired and enjoys model railroading and amateur radio.
Dear Rotary Club,
Here is what the Mountain Ridge Middle School Interact Club has been up to this last month. At the end of September on the 27th, we went to Clairbridge and
enjoyed time with our senior friends doing fall activities such as rubbing fall leaves. On October 4th we went back to see our friends at Clairbridge and did some exciting Halloween activities with them. Also on October 4th we had a bike drive event at the middle school. We collected 106 bikes for people in need of them. It was a long day's work, but well worth it! On November 1st we had our annual canned food drive at King Soopers. The middle school collected about 4-5 shopping carts full. We continued on that day to Interfaith, where we stocked the shelves with these groceries. We will soon be be giving them out to the needy for Thanksgiving.
As always we thank you for sponsoring us and allowing us to be able to do these awesome events.
Sincerely,
Bradley Bishop
