LAST WEEK:Jordon Long, Revital Colorado and Shannon O'Brien GTKY Talk
We again welcomed Jordon as he brought us up to date on what's happening with Revital Colorado and how our contributions have contributed to their success. Revital Colorado brings a proactive approach to serving those who serve us providing support and encouragement through a variety of services that revitalize mind, body, and spirit to our first responders. www.revitalcolorado.org.
It was great to hear Shannon's story and meet her husband Mike Ubis. Shannon literally traveled across the country to land in Colorado, beginning in the east coast, the Midwest, and Texas. But we know traveling is Shannon's bag, 70 countries and 6 continents! To complete her day she also received her Blue Badge from her mentor Tamie.
We welcomed Terry Jones past DG from Idaho, Joel Johnson & Steve Aguilar from Sunrise, and the Calderbank's and James Simmermon on Zoom. We were happy to see Reen back and healthy again.
Ray and Jerry Wilford acknowledged and awarded Tamie and Bill Simmermon for their success meeting and surpassing their goals for our Club's giving to RI and Eradicate Polio during their tenure as Club President.
We are running a bit short this year meeting Tom's goals for both RI and polio. Jerry will be happy to accept your checks and submit to either or both organizations.
Watch your email for a link to the May 3rd Scotland call from Bev; it may just stimulate your giving to eradicating polio.
Debby Doig opened the floor for nominations for a Trustee for the RCHR Foundation beginning Jul 1st. The term is 3 years, and a Trustee may run again to fulfill a 6-year term. Shrin will complete his 3-year term in July and has agreed to run again as well as retain his role as Treasurer. No nominations were made from the floor. Nominations will remain open for the next two weeks.
Thank you, Bill, for officiating the meeting.

MVHS Interact Update - Grace Roscoe
Hello Rotary Friends,
I hope you all are doing well! As the school year is coming to a close and stress levels are rising, Interact Club has been able to continue many fun service activities!
We wanted to thank you all for your donations in our IFCS drive last month!! We truly appreciate your support. In March, we hosted an IFCS drive. We asked for hygiene donations from students school wide, in addition to asking local grocery shoppers to donate food items. Finding much success we were able to fill three storage containers of food donations. In April, Interact hosted our annual Earth Day clean up. We partnered with our feeder middle school Interact Club and cleaned up our school campus, collecting 10 bags of trash! We also held our last and largest Peaceful Schools for the semester, hosting all three grade levels.
In May, we participated in the Rotary Recycling Event. Our club is looking forward to many more ways to give back in the upcoming school year. We wouldn't be able to do everything we do without Rotary’s support.
The MVHS Interact Club enjoys being able to interact with our community and provide a few smiles to others' faces. We appreciate and thank you for your continuous support!
My sincere apologies to Grace, when forwarding her message, I "lost" the attached photos, hope to have them next week.
Thunder Ridge H.S. Trash Can Project - Lee Mulberry
Students from Thunder Ridge in the Metal/Welding class have designed and built trash cans for their parking lots. This project came about with the Peace Jam Club, whom we work with on Peaceful Schools. We told them that we, the Sunrise Club, want to have a closer working relationship with Thunder Ridge and had money allocated in our budget and asked for suggestions. They told us that after a large event at the school that the parking lot is a mess with litter and there are few trash cans. Since Peace Jam is an ecological focused group, this project fit with their mission. We explored many options and came up with using the students in the metal/welding class to design and build. This has been an overwhelming success and I wanted to share with you. Bill Medlicott has been spearheading our relationship with the school and the Peace Jam Club.
By the end of the next school year we will have all three parking lots outfitted with the trash cans that will have a plaque with “made by Thunder Ridge Students and another with Highlands Ranch Rotary.
Terre passed out red noses for Red Nose Day on May 25th. Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising campaign to end the cycle of child poverty and ensure a healthy future for all children.
Remember to bring your red nose to the evening meeting on the 25th.
FYI, SJ Light won reelection on the Centennial Water Board. Congratulations! I personally believe it is to our benefit.
