LAST WEEK: Blair Gifford, Global Health Connections, A Village-Based Model to Improve Income, Health, and Empowerment in Kenya (Kisii Central Rotary Club)
Blair is President of Castle Pines Rotary Club and Professor of Sustainability & Global Health at CU. Their focus is in Kenya and Community Health and Empowerment Clubs (CHEC) addressing the issues of health and economic instability through empowerment and are designed to build and maintain an improved and sustainable standard of living, as well as cultivate a shared sense of improved social well-being within the entire village. Their mission is to connect, engage, and empower individuals to improve the health, social well-being and sustainability of their community. Using data driven models, they create solutions that make a long-lasting difference both locally and globally. They are also using this model to sow seeds of positive change in our own communities beginning in the Lowry Clinic in Aurora and the Navajo Nation in AZ. globalhealthconnections.org.
We welcomed Ben and Laura Linville and their son Charlie who will be this week's student recognition. Laura is the Director of Development with the Backpack Society collecting food donations and raising funds for students who are struggling with food insecurity.
We also welcomed newcomer, Matt Lebowski.
Scott introduced Valor Christian H.S. senior Kelly O'Hearn and his parents Carol and Callen. Kelly was nominated for this recognition for his academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, community service, and most importantly, because of his character. It is through his character that he stands out in ways that matter most. A remarkable young man.
Jerry Wilford passed the You Rock Award to the Caves for their ongoing support and participation.
For the second week the Nominating Committee announced their candidate for President Elect Nominee 2025-26, Bill Leeper and asked for nominations from the floor. No names were offered.
