The Weekly Noon Meeting ran smoothly with President / El Jefe back to work at the podium.

Noon Meeting Highlights:

Scott Davenport kicked us off with his inspiration about smiling and positivity. Following another lovely lunch, Kim DeCoste (the new "Spinner" of the Wheel Spinner) did her Getting to Know You introduction.

Kim is a long-time Rotarian who has come the the Highlands Ranch Rotary after being a member of the Denver Southeast Club since 2011. Kim also served as their PR Chair on the Board of Directors for that club for 9 years and she served 2 District Governors as Chair of Public Image for District 5450. Kim has also been instrumental over the years in the planning and marketing of the Annual State of the State Luncheon and associated symposia on Mental Health. Kim organized several Sporting Clay shoots at Kiowa Creek for the DSE Club and in service to Veteran's issues.

She is married and has one son who is a 2020 Highlands Ranch High graduate. She and her husband, Paul, have lived in the same house over in East Ridge by The Links since 2001. Paul works now for Fidelity Investments but previously worked in the Wine Industry for 30+ years under the Bronco Wine Company (Franzia Family owned) and for Jackson Family Wines. They are celebrating 25 years married in a week.

Professionally, Kim is a Communication Management Consultant and has worked for the majority of her career in recruitment, higher education, and professional development & coaching. Kim is an accomplished public speaker and is fluent in Spanish and German after being a Rotary International Exchange Student to Munich in 1987-88.

Our program was excellent. Landmark Immigration & Estate Law was founded by Connie's daughter,  Erin Williams.

She did a remarkable job of presenting a complex and often controversial topic well and succinctly. Trying to understand all of the statuses of citizenship was the starting point. From there we began to appreciate the true "benefits of citizenship" so that we could try - in a short amount of time - to appreciate the complex issues surrounding immigration as a whole.

Many of us would have happily continued the conversation / presentation, as it was done well and it was nice to have someone with true expertise speak on a topic that is politically charged.

General Reminders & Announcements

  • KUDOS to Alan for all of the work he has done to get our EPIC DAY OF SERVICE organized and up and running. What a great job he has done! Once again and for the last time, he went over the planned activities. ( We will be sharing photos from the day in the next week's Wheel Spinner also; many have been received and they need to be sorted, sized, and labeled so we can publish them correctly. If possible, we will try to post a few at the end of this bulletin. Stay tuned for more pics from the EPIC day! We had planned participation from over 80% of our club in SIX projects! Most clubs choose one.
