We welcomed Dave Amen, eClub One Rotary Club and Deborah Givray, a previous Rotarian from Texas. Dave discussed the District Conference; he is the operations manager for Buchi Anikpezie. As of last Thursday evening, Denver SE was #1 in Rotarian registration, Denver 31 was second, and we were third until you include spouses/guests and we moved into #2 spot!!
 
From Terre: "Children's Hospital offers respite to families of patients at their new Family Resource Center located on the second floor of the hospital. Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.  A wonderful way for families to unwind, do laundry, and even get a much-needed massage in their new electronic massage chair. Refreshments were served by Club members Connie and Terre, and families were greeted by Club member Kevin. See Shrin for further details. "Our gifts of friendship and smiles go a long way." Please join us!"
    
 
From Connie: "Eight members of the International Service Committee went to Belize for 7-8 days. We joined the Corozal Rotary Club as they held their 2nd prosthetic clinic. 13 patients received a new lower leg prosthetic; 11 patients losing a limb to diabetes and 2 with amputations due to an accident. The Hope to Walk non-profit provided the volunteer prosthetition and our Club provided the $2500 for the new legs! Our teams also held free Bicycle Safety sessions 3 afternoons where we applied reflector tape to kids' and adults' bicycles. Few bikes had fenders and almost none had any reflectors, a true hazard at night to drivers and riders alike!

A signup sheet for the Sunrise Recycle Event on May 6th will be distributed the next several weeks. Available shifts include 8-11am, 10am - noon, and 11am to 2pm. 

From Gary Smith, Sunrise, a Highlands Ranch Metro District event is scheduled on May 20th from 9 to 11.  It’s a park clean up day (park to be determined) and we will need help from both clubs.  With our groups supporting this event, the HRMD waives a significant fee for the park reservation for the annual recycling day at UC Health.  More details to follow.

 

The District Conference Apr 29th; $145 for the full conference (or less amounts for Saturday day or evening only) and $100 for the full conference if you are a first time attendee. Register on our District website, https://www.rotary5450.org/. 
The State of the State Luncheon Apr 28th, $80 for the luncheon. Register by Apr 21st at sos.dserotary.org.
The Mental Health Symposium hosted by Rotarians 4 Mental Health precedes the lunch from 8:30-11:30am, for more information, www.R4MH.org.
Provide Guy with a copy of your registration from both or either meetings to receive a partial reimbursement ($50 for conference and/or $40 for luncheon).
To complete the April Rotary Trifecta is a District service project initiated by the Denver Mile High Club to plant 40 trees along the S. Platte River appropriate for all ages, more information available on the District website.

May 7th - Castle Pines Rotary fundraiser at Top Golf, 10601 East Easter Ave. Centennial 80112, 4:30 - 8:00pm. Cost is $150 per person and covers 3 hours of Top Golf Tournament play, buffet dinner, and two drink tickets. There will also be a silent auction and a raffle for a $2000 Broadmoor voucher. Please join the Rotary Satellite Club of Highlands Ranch Sunrise for our regular meetings at Eastridge Recreation Center, 9568 S University Blvd, 80126. We are a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community.  And we have fun at the same time! 
Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am.  Please contact either Lee Mulberry (303-522-6650) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) if you plan to attend. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings.  We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
