LAST WEEK: NCOA Activities - Tom Keyton, Tim Sparks, and Jerry Selinfreund plus the T-Shirt Contest
May I first introduce the above gentlemen as NCOA Knights of the Square Table. Tom was recently knighted, Tim in 2018, and Jerry in 2017. Tom provided a detailed description of the NCOA, Non Commissioned Officers Association, including knighthood, www.ncoausa.org. Tim described Rotary WarmHeart, a financial safety net for the families of deployed soldiers. WarmHeart support to the families is a gift, not a loan as provided by the Army Relief Fund. www.rotarywarmheart.org. Jerry discussed the Military Support Committee's projects: NCOA Golf Tournament, Crawford House, Warrior Bonfire, and Gold & Purple Mountain Express. He announced the 2022 dates for the Gold & Purple Mountain Express; May 31-Jun 3 for Purple Heart kids and Jun 27-30 for the Goldstar kids.
Bill played a video from the Rotary Foundation challenging us with, "why are you in Rotary" and putting Rotary into perspective as well as our global impact, "once upon a time is now". Also emphasizing this year's theme, "each one bring one".
Thanks to the judges for the ugliest, oldest, and funniest t-shirts contest: Peter and Eric
What they had to choose from:
Congratulations to Jane for beating Bill for the "ugliest", Connie Dix for the "oldest", and Guy for beating Elya for the "funniest".
We welcomed Rose, Chuck's wife; Eric, Elya's husband (who is interested in joining, come on Rose!); Phil Clarke, a prospective member (his father was in the Denver Rotary), and Keith Dragon who just joined the Mt. Foothills Evergreen Club.
