50/50 Winner - Anastasia Merkhasina, sell tickets Nov 9th.
LAST WEEK:Stephanie Stanley and Jill Hall, Highlands Ranch new Senior Center
Gary Dani introduced Stephanie, General Manager Highlands Ranch Metro District Board of Directors and Jill, Senior Services Manager.
The Highlands Ranch Senior Center provides resources for Highlands Ranch older adults and families who may be uncertain where to find needed services, social or recreational activities and/or enrichment opportunities. They will compliment, not replicate services provided by the four recreation centers. The Center will open May 2024, programs are available this fall, highlandsranch.org/seniorcenter to register and for complete information including membership.
We welcomed Nancy Barton (her second visit), our new member Susan Gould, Steve Werner and his special guest Vicki Brenton with the Rotary Lombardi Award. Watch your email for a message from Steve and Vicki regarding the Lombardi Award. And don't forget, Vince was Steve's Uncle.
It was great to see Anastasia and Mike O'Brien again.
Scott introduced Sawyer Henbest from Mountain Vista High School and his parents. As we begin to recognize students I am again amazed at their initiative, goals, and accomplishments. Sawyer did not disappoint; he's strong in academics, sports, volunteering, and his church. His description of raising more than $200,000 last year for Wish Week at Mountain Vista and granting 25 wishes to children with terminal illness was inspiring and encouraging.
Elizabeth passed the "You Rock" award representing the values of Rotary and the 4-Way Test to Shrin.
Bob auctioned a wood carving and bottle of Canadian Club Elizabeth graciously donated. Bob didn't have his hat and was unsure of his auctioning ability without it. Thankfully Shrin donated his cap allowing a successful sale, thank you Terre.
As we move forward Bob suggests
members consider giving any unused time shares they might have this winter for auction. These have sold well in the past and would be a nice departure from our usual wine offerings. Any donation of time shares, or other items, can be deducted as a charitable contribution at the value the item sells for at auction.
