LAST WEEK - Joshua Knight and Chuck Bahr, Water for Cameroon
Patricia introduced our fellow Rotarians from the Denver SE Club as they shared their international WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Rotary Action Group)project we have supported. After introducing themselves with their interesting bios both men shared what ensures success, community involvement. They work with each community to find what works best for them, what is sustainable. Lack of community involvement causes 50% of water projects to fail. Global Hope Network International was launched with the purpose of, “bringing help and hope to the hidden and hurting", www.ghni.org. Since 2000, over 100 projects have opened doors to bring sustainable solutions and transformational assistance to communities in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Transformational Community Development was quickly established as our method of sustainable development and is used today to lift villagers out of cyclical poverty.
We again welcomed Kelsey Lyons, happy to have you with us again.

Rotary started with the vision of one man, Paul Harris. The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotary members and friends of The Rotary Foundation who elect to contribute $1,000 or more each year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, or approved global grants. The purpose of the Paul Harris Society is to honor and thank individuals for their generous, ongoing support of The Rotary Foundation.

MVHS Interact Update from Grace Roscoe: "A project that we finished up in December is the Christmas food distribution. We had a great turn out and supplied many people with nourishment over the holiday season. The club has also continued to send videos to our local senior-citizen facility, Brookedale. In the December video we talked about our favorite traditions, and our favorite holiday treat. In the January video we are telling them our favorite activity we did over break and our New Year's resolutions. The Brookedale videos have had great success and we love to brighten their days by saying hello.
Another project that we are starting up this month is the Peaceful Schools program. This program is where we zoom into classrooms, grades 1-3, at a local elementary school to read and discuss books. We are planning to have 4 sessions with each class. As a club we really enjoy reading to the kids because we can just see the smiles that it brings to their faces".

Please join theHighlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Clubfor our regular meetings. We are currently meeting virtually and hope to return to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch soon. We are still a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community. And we have fun at the same time!
Zoom call meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am. Please contact either Gary Smith (303-522-3355) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) for the Zoom meeting link. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings. We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
