Noon Meeting Highlights from June 6, 2024:
One of our newest club members, Kristy Hayzlett offered our Inspiration last week. She reminded us of the importance of breathing... and of self care. Taking care of ourselves is vitally important. Even if we do it under the guise of doing it so that we may better care for others. Breathe a bit every day. Pause, reflect, be grateful.
As it was the first meeting of the month, we noted birthdays, anniversaries, and Rotary membership anniversaries. It is remarkable how many dedicated Rotarians we have!
***Special Announcement***

We had an excellent program last week. It was offered by John Schuster and was titled, "Aging with Intention"
While we all approach aging with different perspectives, John gave some excellent pointers and replied thoughtfully to great questions.
In general, consider the difference between Getting Old and Growing Old.
Our "golden years" are typically the most spiritual of our lives. As John reminded us, it is more about an "inner game" than an "outer game." Humor and fun are essential. Relationships become even more vital than they were earlier in our lives. Learning is a sign of vitality and will offer us the best chance to keep our mind sharp. We should endeavor to pursue our "spiritual lives" - whatever that may mean to us individually - and keeping an eye our mindsets is critically important.
A few gems John passed along...
-"It is better to eat Twinkies with friends than to eat brown rice alone."
-Focus on what you ARE. Do not be a "former ___"
And remember, in life you will absorb pain but you need not add suffering.
In closing, he quoted a favorite poet,
"The afternoon knows what the morning never suspects."

President Bob invited Elaine to give us the year end membership update:
We currently have 119 members. 17 come from our Sunrise Group. 85 attend the noon meetings and 17 at the Flyin' B. We also have 6 honorary members.
Speaking of honorary members, Floyd Nelson is being inducted as our newest honorary member. President Bob brought him forward to the Board and he was confirmed in the last meeting. Floyd served our club in a number of ways over the years including service as a Past President. He started our Interact group and championed Interact to the District. He was also a Western Welcome Week Founder. We are so grateful for have him in our club and look forward to seeing him at meetings and socially. Thank you, Floyd, for your devotion to the Club!
Finally, Elaine reminded us that we have an annual goal for membership. This year, we seek to add 5 members. We accomplished that this past year but we also lost 6 members, as is expected. Please remember that new membership is the club's lifeline. Invite your friends, neighbors, family, and colleagues.
