From Gary Smith, The Recycling Event Results Are In…
Thanks to everyone that helped with the very successful May 8th Day of Service Recycling event. It took a large cast to pull this off and we couldn’t thank everyone more for the help along the way. We’re still putting the final numbers together but here are a few initial details:
First of all, the weather was great!! 70 Degrees and party sunny in the afternoon
100,000 to 130,000 pounds of electronics recycled (10 large trucks were full)
40,000 to 50,000 pounds of paint recycled, 6300 gallons
Over 900 cars dropping off materials
134 volunteers, 458 volunteer hours not including the Sunrise folks
The Thunder Ridge Interact Club and members from four baseball teams were there
Great feedback received from the recyclers, DC Sheriff’s Deputies, UC Health HR Hospital and the participants
And we received $14,021.50 in donations of which 100% will go to the great community organizations and charities we support!!!
A video of the event will be coming soon
What a club we have, and one to be so proud of - we kept a tremendous amount of hazardous material out of our landfills with just this one event!
Thanks to all again!
Bob Larson is fulfilling his dream of auctioneering by auctioning off his wine stash. This week's bottle sold for $100!!
