PROGRAM
Tamie Fennell and Bill Simmermon reported on their attendance at the RI Convention in
Singapore in May along with a great slide show and many stories.
After a 16 ½ hour flight (Bill lucked out with an aisle seat (lucky duck); they both reported it was a True Experience! The climate in Singapore makes you “sweat like crazy” Tamie reported.
RI President Gordon McAnally promoted World Peace. He is a Mental Health advocate
and spoke of our RCHR and Colorado Pediatric Mental Health project. Bill was sitting in
the audience of 14,000 Rotarians when the announcement of Pediatric Mental Health
came about and he said it was quite an experience!
They both told of favorite stories, of
meeting countless interesting people with beautiful cultural clothing, and said it is a great way to connect with Rotary friends.
Our District hosted a Happy Hour with the E Club 1.
The 2024-25 RI Convention will be
in Galgary, Canada on June 21-25, 2025. Almost in our backyard!
Perhaps we can get a group from our club to travel together? Let's talk about it!
Bill shared pictures and stories of his post-trip to Vietnam, and Tamie shared her post
trip to Cambodia where she visited the water to rural families where our Connie Golas
has a well along with 450 more wells. FYI, to new members, this is part of the WASH program, which involves many people in our District and focuses on Water And Sanitation Health. Both Tamie and Bill fell
in love with the warm, friendly people of Asia.
Marion Trummer won the 50/50.
Happy Bucks: Terre Cone wished all our fathers a Happy Father’s Day with a cake from
herself and Arthur.
Jerry Selinfreund gave a $50 check on behalf of Jan Keyton’s 80th Birthday, and Jan gave a $80 check towards Polio Plus.
A few straggling notes from the emails...
-
The RCHR Board of Directors met last week. The next meeting is July 10, 2024.
-
The Youth/RYLA update
-
Applicants have been selected.
-
Our club is sponsoring 18 students this year. 13 come from Highlands Ranch, 1 is from Denver, and 4 are from Laramie, Wyoming.
-
The Next Community Service meeting will be on 6/20. ***Please note that we are working on a way to provide MORE details on a weekly basis with a hyperlink or some other means of attaching details for those who want to read more. This group does so much of the vital "day-to-day" work of the club, we believe that the WS can help be a way of promoting these activities and we will work to reach out the appropriate people to "flex" more of the capabilities that ClubRunner affords us.
Ok...whew...that is a lot of info. We are going to try to attach a photo gallery here but if we cannot do it before 3pm, we will send this and follow up with an "Extra edition" shortly! Thanks, again, for all the help!
We hope to see you on Thursday!
