The Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch Celebrates 40 Years of Giving!
Neil DiLorenzo (above) spoke at our celebration.
In 1985 he was a founding member of what was then, the Littleton South Rotary Club. Two years later he became Club President and oversaw the welcoming of women members for the first time.
Emcee Debby Doig talked of those upon whose shoulders we stand, of the Supreme Court's decision for service clubs to include women, and of those of our members who have sadly passed during this past year.

Mark Eberly regaled us with tales about fundraisers from cookie dough to Christmas Trees, Casino Nights to Formal Galas. Mary Kay Hasz shared what being the first woman “who stuck” with the club was like. Marion Trummer let us know how Rotarians morph into “family.” Jim Kelley reminisced about his travels to other clubs and exchanging flags with them.

The Social Committee with Nancy Barton at the helm (along with her many volunteers) had the Lone Tree Golf Club looking spectacular!
Glorious bouquets dressed up all of the 10-seater round tables bedecked in tablecloths with colorful runners. LED lighting gave the place a special sparkle and the flags from national and international clubs around the periphery added to the colorful palette. It was a night to remember; a night to celebrate those from our past, enjoy the company of those in our present and look forward to those who will join us in the future.

Fly’n B Rotary Club Update
Sept 25th meeting: We have moved to our new venue: Quincy Point Cards Room, down the hall from Fall River Bistro and Carter’s Restaurant.
It seats 36, we had 33 present
We inducted two new members: Dick Harsh and Lynn Cederquist both long-time Rotarians
John Hennett gave his annual Polio Plus pitch and reminded us that end of year gifts have tax advantages, federal if you itemize and state even if you don’t.
Carol gave our Rotary moment from the Rotarian, also a Polio story. Marilyn Thomas recalled her bout with Polio as a child.
Anita passed the Apple to Bud Benson (pictured above) for his loyal service to the club, his help and compassion for caring for our member’s medical incident last month, and Solar Panel assembler for Ukraine. This is a Highlands Ranch Rotary project that we have adopted. We plan to host an assembly event on campus in the next few months.
Our main speaker was Wind Crest chief executive (”Mayor”) Craig Erickson. He related the rise to his current position having grown up watching the Erickson communities being built. This has been his dream job, away from corporate headquarters where he can interact with the residents. He suggested that we call on his staff members to help with our projects so they can fulfill their service hours.
Judy reminded us of the Nov 1st Blood Drive. Register with Vitalant at 877-258-4825 or donors.vitalant.org
Treasurer, Bill Butler reminded us of quarterly dues, $60, or annual dues $240.
Good news for RCHR via Sees Candies! Ray Anderson has arranged for Sees to give our club 15% to 50% of their profits on various delicious purchases. Here is the link. Sweet!
