LAST WEEK: Charlie Hunt & Tily Phannenstiel, Rotary and Peace Corp Partnership
Tily joined via Zoom and is a Peace Corp recruiter for CO and WY. She was joined by Steve Werner who replaced C. Hunt. A partnership between Rotary and the Peace Corp was established in 2015. The agreement was inspired by a group of returning Peace Corp Volunteer Rotarians in Rotary District 5450. The heart of the agreement is that Peace Corps and Rotary have almost identical focuses resulting in a strategic partnership for peace and the development of a MOU, memorandum of understanding. The dedication of the Sue Fox Memorial Library in Costa Rica was the first activity under this MOU. The partnership focuses on literacy training, sanitation projects, and book donations.
Sep 20-26 is Rotary - Peace Corp week, see partneringforpeace.org for more information.

Bill encouraged everyone to listen to our District Governor, Ray Anderson's monthly message, rotary5450.org.
