LAST WEEK:Steve Werner & John Hendrick, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)
Bob Martin introduced Steve and John who described WASH. The lack of access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene resources is one of the world’s biggest health problems — and one of the hardest to solve. Through WASH programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change. Over the past several years, Rotary has shifted its focus to also emphasize education, collaboration, and sustainability in WASH. RF supports 1000 WASH projects in over 100 countries, www.wash-rag.org.
Visioning Summary - Debbie Leonard and Kevin Mizer
Our vision over the next 3-5 years is to increase membership, member engagement, and attract membership diversity and basically "keep what we're doing". Goals include: more visibility in the community, encourage youth participation (RYLA, Interact, and families), coordinate with other Clubs on international projects for more boots on the ground opportunities, increase diversity of members - age, ethnicity, and profession, and look for opportunities in 7 areas of focus. Two new committee recommendations to the Board are youth engagement and public relations. Let's make Rotary a household word.
Scott Davenport announced Stella Al Samardli from Highlands Ranch HS the winner of the RCHR Scholarship. He thanked Claudia, Carolyn, Ron, and Chip for their help reviewing the applicants.
Bob Larson used his auctioneering skills to auction a bottle of Amarula, a South African liqueur. Debby Doig won with a $70 bid but was required to sign a release before receiving the bottle.

Please join theHighlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Clubfor our regular meetings. We are currently meeting virtually and hope to return to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch soon. We are still a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community. And we have fun at the same time!
Zoom call meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am. Please contact either Gary Smith (303-522-3355) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) for the Zoom meeting link. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings. We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
