LAST WEEK:Jan Keyton, RYLA and Brian Fervert's GTKY (Get To Know You) talk
Tom introduced Jan who began with how she became acquainted with RYLA followed by a detailed history of the organization. RYLA or Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and Districts where young people can develop leadership skills while having fun, making connections, and spreading the RYLA magic. Includes Young RYLA, students going into the 8th grade and RYLA Plus providing the RYLA experience for physically challenged teens.
Karla Olson followed Jan with a discussion of Interact, at Mountain Vista middle and high school. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
Brian was introduced by his mentor Scott. Brian allowed us to get to know him with his interesting vignettes of how he arrived in Colorado and Rotary. Thank you and we are so pleased you joined us.
We welcomed Heather Mattison and via Zoom, Debbie Leonard, Arthur Cone, Phil Calderbank, Betsy Alexander, and James Simmermon.
Congratulations to Alex as he received his Blue Badge from his mentor Kevin.
We honored another fascinating Student of the Month, Blake Naresion from Thunder Ridge H.S. and his parents. Blake described his development and direction of a high school fund raising cabaret called The Future is Bright for the Denver Actors Fund. A future Rotarian for sure!
Thank you, Connie, for officiating the meeting.
