Inspiration: Dec 30th: Mike Foss
50/50 winner: Marion will sell tickets on the 30th
LAST WEEK: Club Biz Day
First, Marion gave an inspirational Rotary Moment, how she collects people and Rotary means people. The child reading to you at Sedalia Elementary, the junior high student buying first time new clothes at Kohl's Santa Clothes, the dad sharing his hospitalized child's photos at Ronald McDonald House, laying bricks at Homes for Veterans, her many memorable experiences in Costa Rica and RYLA. We each have a different talent, a different way of reaching people.
Bill honored our favorite servers, Peggy and Mary Ellen, with a little holiday cash. Thank you, ladies!
Thanks to Ray, we welcomed Bev Mendel (finally!) and Rebecca Jeffaves, the President of the Wheat Ridge Club she makes happen from Germany!
It was wonderful to have Fred Warnaars in person.
Bill presented Bev with flowers and many thanks from our Club, himself, and our District for her multiple contributions.
As we move forward Bob is asking for "Rare and Unusual Auction Item Donations". COULD BE THAT WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT?
This could be a piece of art, a signed athletic piece, anything rare and unusual. Please contact Bob about what you are interested in having him auction prior to the meeting.
Announcements
We had a true example of "what are Rotarians" when Claudia received a plea from IFCS (2 groups had failed) to distribute food and gifts to children. Thank you, Claudia, Bob Martin, Jim Bramley, and Bill Medlicott for stepping up.
Alan sold the remaining cookbooks. The money collected goes to support Polio Plus; two members have yet to pay for their books.
Jerry Wilford, reporting for TRF, stated we are well on the way to meeting Bill's annual goal of $30,000. Our Club has matching points; if you donate to TRF in Dec or Jan, our Club will match your dollar for dollar. Please contact Jerry for more information.
2022 RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) and Young RYLA.
RYLA dates are July 17-22 and applications will be open to this year’s sophomores, juniors and graduating seniors. Because we have not been able to hold RYLA for the past two years, we are including graduating seniors 2022 as they have missed their turn (a one-time only exception). Young RYLA will hold two conferences:
June 19 - 24 and July 24 - 29. Current 7th graders may apply for Young RYLA. All three conferences will be held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. Applications on the website will open early February, 2022,
www.rockymountainryla.org. Please let Jan Keyton know if you have family/friends/neighbors who might be interested in applying for a conference. The kids need adults to make these conferences happen, let Jan know if you are interested.
Response/support for the victims of the tornado in Kentucky is forthcoming.
Nominations are open for the 2024-25 District Governor. Tamie will become Asst DG (3-year commitment) Jul 1st replacing Gail Lehrmann. John Logan will assume the Chair of Stewardship now.
We had a Happy Bucks Special beginning with a $100 contribution from James Simmermon commenerating his 71st anniversary in Rotary covering 3500 meetings in 22 countries.
