LAST WEEK: Meet our new President -- Tom Keyton
Tom's 11 years in Rotary have been filled with many roles on our Foundation, Board, as Treasurer, and active in the Military Service. It is our honor to welcome him as President. He didn't know the Rotary plaque he received in high school with The Four Way Test would be a premonition to his future.
Tom shared a short video from Jennifer Jones with her theme "Imagine Rotary". "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one." We are already imagining with the formation of RTT and the Pediatric Mental Health Endowment.
We welcomed our newest member, Robin Aguilar, and Giovanni Biga, and Keyton's granddaughter Katie Kelley.
Katie appealed to the Club for donations for "her room" as a new teacher beginning August. She is requesting magazines, newspapers, and office supplies. Please let the Keyton's know, and Katie will pick them up.
Announcements
Tom congratulated everyone on such a successful 4th of July parade. A special thanks to Mark Brown, Michelle, and our two RYLA volunteers. Pictures forthcoming.
This is our 22nd year for the annual Peach & Pear Sale.
www.RotaryClubHR.org/peaches.
Orders must be placed by Aug 10th. Pickup will be Sat, Aug 20th; noon to 6 PM. Eastridge Rec Center, 9568 S University Blvd – North Parking Lot.
We are off to a remarkable start with the sale of 79 boxes in the first week! Share the fliers or email address with your families and friends.
At the time of this writing, 235 boxes have been ordered!!
Elizabeth shared comments from Help & Hope regarding our participation in their food drive last month, our King Sooper "had their most phenomenal response". She also thanked all the volunteers for their time and support.
Connie gave an update on the Afghan family she is visiting weekly and Kevin visiting twice weekly. She gave a shout out to Kevin for his dedication and support to the family. Currently the family is in desperate need of fans (no air conditioning). They would also like an insta-pot as well as books for their children to assist in learning English. Contact Kevin or Connie to pick up and deliver. Connie will give monthly updates.
Jane and Kyle will host the evening meeting at their home on the 28th: arrive at 5pm for drinks, food, and entertainment. The cost for the meal will be charged as a regular meeting and guests are welcome with a $25 charge for supper (can be added to your quarterly dues). Please bring your own chairs.
Arthur donated a bottle of Pinot, Bob auctioned, and Ron purchased. Thank you. The Cone's will present a surprise auction item at this week's meeting for bids the following week. The money from the winning bid will be donated to Pediatric Mental Health.
Family of Rotary Concerns
Our thoughts and prayers continue for Peter as he recovers from Bell's palsy. Our continued good wishes travel with the Calderbank's. And we are saying prayers for Reen as she prepares for her long-awaited back surgery on the 21st.
As always, we keep Goldie in our prayers and best wishes.
