LAST WEEK: RCHR Pediatric Mental Health Committee, Les Lee
If you missed the presentation, please listen to the recording (YouTube link available above). I can't begin to relate the significance of our Club’s first ever legacy project, the Rotary Endowed Fellowship for Pediatric Mental Health. Debby Doig, Foundation Chair, described it as a "turning point", "a new dawn with so much potential". Last May Shrin initiated a meeting with an idea to help Colorado’s kids in crisis, and a seed was planted. The Pediatric Mental Health Committee was formed and has created a new partnership with Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation and the Pediatric Mental Health Institute.
Permanent endowments are invested "in perpetuity"; that is, the principal amount remains invested while a portion of the investment income is used to support the endowed fellowship of our Rotary Fellow.
We have 3 years to raise $500,000 or ~ $167,000/year. The committee will be presenting the endowment program to Rotary clubs in Districts 5450, 5440, 5470 to ask for their partnership and support. To start, our Foundation pledged $50,000 and we already have $110,000 donated from Club members creating a legacy that will last and continue to serve children and families in need of care.
We welcomed speaker Les Lee from the Denver 31 Club and Children's Hospital Foundation Chair. We also welcomed Shrin's
wife Lekha, David Ord, Joel Johnson from Sunrise, and, once again, Alex Wharry.
