LAST WEEK: Mt. Vista High School Interact Club, Karla Olson
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of
- Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
- Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
- Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
- Advancing international understanding and goodwill
Mt. Vista's Club went above and beyond two service projects, this year's events include supporting a concession stand or a community active effort within school; ShelterBox both local and international; Peaceful Schools program where Maya rewrote the program allowing students to participate during Covid; Trunk or Treat event and sock drive; supporting dementia residents at Brookdale; Safe2Tell; Town Center Holiday event; Wellness Week; encouragement letters and gift cards to Marshall fire victims; participating in the Young Rotary Conference which they will host next year; and, an upcoming Earth Day campus clean up with the middle school. Whew!! How do you keep up with these awesome individuals who received multiple standing ovations?
We welcomed Ann (Ron's wife), Carl Husmann (Eric's friend), Michelle (Neil's wife), Mollie Zaring, and Kippen Lasswell. It was great to see Tori in person. And, Alex our newest member!
