LAST WEEK
Kelsey Lyons, Classification Talk
We haven't been able to meet Kelsey in person however her talk gave us an insight into who she is as a woman, general contractor, and mother. We welcome you to the Club and we are all anxious to meet you in person.
Phil provided a detailed description of the World Affairs Challenge from Mar 6th including videos of the winning teams. He shared the value to Rotary: promote education which is the key to reduction of poverty; provide leadership and support; promote cultural awareness; introduce Rotary to the youth in our area (WAC homepage and websites will display Rotary); and, identify a worthy project that could benefit from our help. He also thanked the participating judges: Tamie, Zig, Paul Campbell, Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch, Debbie Doig, Connie Golas, Chip Kennedy, Ron Lester, John Logan, Shrin, Peter Ulrich, and himself.
Kari guided us through a tour of the HRRC website improvements since July 2020, HRR.org. The left column is the business section, the center are success stories, and the right column Bright Futures/gala. Below are highlights from the Committees followed by RI link. She is currently working on updating the subpages as well as a donate now button, video archive, and option to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
Kudos to Kari, this is a site that truly reflects our Club and a significant improvement from the past.
Announcements
Tamie announced the Board agreed to hybrid, in-person meetings at Lone Tree beginning May 6th.
Work on the pergola at Sedalia Elementary was postponed until Mar 13-21 due to the weather.
May 8th and the recycling event seems a long way off but the planning needs to happen now. Marty Genereux needs approximately 60 volunteers for 2 shifts for the 9am - 2pm event.
In an effort to minimize traffic, the event will no longer accept scrap metal; see the updated flyer on FB or our website.
Please call or email Marty to volunteer, 303-798-9036 or MGenereux317@gmail.com with your name, phone, and email.

Military Support - Jerry Selinfreund
The Military Committee is really excited to share with the Club a truly amazing program: Gold and Purple Mountain Express. This will be very similar to the Snowball Express supported by our Club and the NCOA in the past, except it will be focused locally. It will occur in June of 2022 and we will take Gold Children (who have lost a parent in either Iraq or Afghanistan) and Purple Children (children of Purple Heart Veterans) on a 3-day excursion in the Denver area, such as a Rockies game, Eliches, or the Zoo. These will be two separate events. We will need the help and support of the entire Club to accomplish this! Please contact either Jerry Selinfreund 303-550-4242 or David Blackwood 303-518-9650 to get involved in this unique service project.
If you are interested in joining the Military Support Committee, contact Jerry Selinfreund, JerrySelinfreund@gmail.com, or David Blackwood, dblackwood.realtor@gmail.com.

Please join theHighlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Clubfor our regular meetings. We are currently meeting virtually and hope to return to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch soon. We are still a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community. And we have fun at the same time!
Zoom call meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am. Please contact either Gary Smith (303-522-3355) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) for the Zoom meeting link. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings. We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
