Inspiration: Connie Golas
50/50 winner: Jeannie Taylor
LAST WEEK: Barb Lotze, Aging Well & Finishing Strong and Jeannie Taylor's Classification Talk
Claudia introduced Barb who brought Robbie Robinson with her for her second visit to our Club. Robbie shared his story living with his wife and Alzheimer's, joining her world rather than bringing hers to his world. Barb reminded us to proactively plan for our futures including developing an end-of-life binder including a DNR form/CPR directive form, MOST form (medical orders for scope of treatment), and 5 wishes (advance directive regarding medical wishes). Barb graciously provided binders for members including these documents and other important information.
Jeannie shared her interesting life story leading her to meet Elizabeth and join Rotary.
During our first evening meeting we welcomed members wives, Caryl Dani, Rose Giebel, and Lekha Murthy and son, Remi Brown. It was great to finally welcome Christine Hoyt in person as well as Paul Campbell and Elena from Sunrise. Also joining us were Chip Hartney, Dave Amen, and Shelley Falk, Club President from the Rotary Club of Corozal in Belize.
Dave Amen informed us the 2023 District Conference will be held Apr 29th. Shelley described their Club's new project, to bring prosthetic devices to amputees in Belize. Prior to this time, amputees have not been able to get a prosthetic device after their amputation anywhere in their small poor country. Of note, our International Service Committee has interest in supporting.
Last week, Debby Doig opened nominations for the two open Trustee positions for the HRRF; nominations will remain open for another week. On June 1st members will receive an email to cast their vote (one week response time). On June 9th the results will be given at the meeting. This week Connie Golas asked for further nominations from the floor, no nominations were offered. Current nominees include Debby for another 3-year term as Chairperson, Bob Larson, Bill Leeper, and Ron Lester.
We celebrated Red Nose Day supporting programs that help break the cycle of child poverty and ensure children are healthy, safe, educated, and empowered across the U.S. and abroad.

Paul Campell asked for volunteers for the last Elephant Rock Bike Ride Sunday June 5th. "We have 17 stations to marshal, and we try to get at least two people at each station. All are located in Douglas County, most in Highlands Ranch/Castle Rock area relatively close to the DC Fairgrounds complex, with a few further east in Parker. There are some with beginning times of 5:30 a.m. for you early risers, that end at 8:30, and others that begin at 9:30, ending around 1pm respectively." Please contact Paul with what time you would prefer and he'll try to accommodate your wishes.
