President, Bill and new member, Sophie performed a skit depicting the success of Bright Futures and congratulating Tom McHugh on his leading the challenge to meet the $100K goal. An event is judged on its success and we met ours financially grossing $108K with a net of $92K! Our Foundation will be challenged to plan the impact of those dollars including the successful peach sales. We have had a phenomenal year!! Bright Futures was also fun and full of fellowship. 80% of the survey respondents would like a social, dinner celebration for the next event.
Thanks to Grace Roscoe for sending an update on Interact.
Hello Rotary Friends,
I hope you are all doing well. The school year has slowly begun to return to a slight sense of normalcy, allowing The MVHS Interact Club to do many more in-person events this year.
The MVHS Interact Club has had great success thus far this year. We started the year off with several events. One of our favorites has been the Peaceful Schools Program, where we go into classrooms, grades 1-3, at a local elementary school to read and discuss books. We also helped distribute peaches into cars with Rotary. During our homecoming week, we hosted concessions at our school football game, raising $1400. With this money, we purchased a $1000 shelter box and donated the rest to the MVHS unified program.
Even though we have overcome many of the challenges Covid presents, we are still facing a few difficulties. Due to our local Senior Living Center, Brookedale, being at high risk, we have continued to send our monthly videos filled with many fun things. We have also added a new component. Pre-Covid, we were able to go into the home and do exciting crafts and activities with them. Since we can not do that during these times, we have started making crafts to deliver to the home to decorate for the seasons and holidays.
Coming up, we are participating in our school, Trunk-or-Treat street. Trunk-or-Treat street is where many clubs at MVHS decorate different cars for the community to walk-thru and get candy. The MVHS Interact Club will be hosting two Halloween-decorated cars with candy for the kids, but we will also be hosting a sock drive.
We would like to thank you for your continuous support of our club. We will continue to send you updates on all the activities we are participating in.
MVHS Officer,
Grace Roscoe
Grace also shared their fundraising event at Parry's Pizza this Saturday as noted above.

The Keytons had an awesome vacation which many of us followed on Facebook. Here they are golfing with Joe Roos in Junction and Jan provided an update on Charles Tutor.
Many of you Rotarians remember Charles and Joan Tutor who were members of RCHR about 6 years ago before moving from Parker back to Gunnison CO where they previously lived and raised their family.
The Keytons had the pleasure of visiting Charles Tutor in Gunnison this past Saturday. Charles, now in his mid 80s (and a Past DG) is very active with many daily activities in his town plus his Rotary Club of Gunnison. He is on dialysis at home nightly. Charles lost his wife Joan last May very suddenly to a stroke; they have been married 65 years.
He misses Joan immensely as he was sure he would pass first so this has been quite a shock. He shared many emotional moments with us and I hope we were helpful to him.
He lives in a beautiful home just a tad north of Gunnison that his builder son built for he and Joan to finish their beautiful lives together. We had a marvelous visit with Charles; he is a wealth of information on so many subjects, and he keeps right up with sports. So here’s just a touch of info on Charles to catch you all up to date.
