Tomorrow, Aug 10th, is the last day to order peaches/pears
THIS WEEK: Justin Kruger, Project Helping
Greeter(s): Elya & Eric Kinsey
Inspiration: Michelle McRae
50/50 winner: John Logan
LAST WEEK: Taryn Lemmon, Fair Trade
Tamie introduced Taryn and Fair Trade, improving lives and protecting the planet. Taryn shared the similarities between the United Nations sustainable development goals and Fair Trade goals and those of Rotary International. In addition to paying farmers, workers, and artisans a fair wage for their products, fair trade also guarantees a "community development premium" for all transactions. This includes education, environmental training, healthcare & medical training, infrastructure, water access & food security, and access to credit. How can we get involved; purchase fair trade products, start a Fair Trade Campaign, join online discussions, and tell our friends. For more information, tlemmon@fairtradeusa.org.
We welcomed Joyce Young as this week's guest.
Jerry Wilford honored our recent Paul Harris awardees: Alex Wharry, Phil Clarke, Eric Kinsey, Phil Horning, Joan Dameron, Connie Dix +1, Bill Simmeron +4, and Jeanne Taylor +8.
Connie Golas has a signup sheet for the Rotary District Area 4 meeting Aug 31st. (See email sent Aug 2nd for complete details.) The District is providing hotdogs and brats; our Club is responsible for appetizers and/or sides. Please sign up indicating what you will bring and how many in your party, family and kids welcome.
A "Christmas in August" fundraiser is also being held; please bring a $10 gift card to the event.
Congratulations to Jim Bramley who purchased last week's Keystone condo auction item.
