CONGRATULATIONS to Debby Doig as she enters another 3- year term as Chairperson and Ron Lester as he begins his tenure as a Trustee on the HRRF.
Debbie Leonard distributed a signup sheet for the 4th of July parade; sign up early to decorate or later to participate in the parade. Thanks to Mark Brown for the use of his truck. The trailer will include the Rotary inflatable, banners on both sides, and red/white/blue bunting. Thanks to Michelle McRae for supplying the candy. And Phil Clarke for providing the patriotic music.
Jerry Selinfreund provided an update on the NCOA golf tournament; 49 scheduled to play, 17 golfers from the Club or their guests and 32 sponsored military golfers. Jerry thanked everyone for the excellent support.
Bill stressed the importance of documenting our volunteer hours, "raises the level of awareness to quantify our impact". "We/Rotary are unsung heroes."
We may have turned in the traveling trophy of Paul Harris at the District Conference, but we received a new plaque in its place.
Tamie added a little Western flair as she, Ray, and Bill shared anecdotes/memorable stories, and events from the RI Conference in Houston. Of note, Rotary has an action group with active chapters of mental health; Rotary has worldwide access as it is in more countries than the United Nations; 19-20 million children have been saved from polio; supporting a new project to recognize minority owned businesses that align with The Four-Way Test; and Rotary continues with the goal of "each one bring one" by increasing the number of Rotarians worldwide to 1.4 million with Asia, especially India, leading the way. Next year's conference will be in Melbourne May 27-31.
Claudia is always a teacher, here she is with the Afghan children working on their English.
See email from Connie Golas dated June 10th if you are interested in actively assisting the Corozal Belize Rotary Club fitting amputees Aug 10-24. "New legs need walking partners."
Thank you, Jeannie, for continually supporting our Foundation and enhancing Bob's auctioneering skills.
