LAST WEEK:Claudia Caves, Youth & At-Risk Protection Review and Ray Leaycraft, The Rotary Foundation
Claudia reiterated our Club's compliance regarding youth and at-risk protection by presenting the annual review. This information is also available on the District 5450 website under the "Youth Services" tab. For questions contact Claudia or the Youth & At-Risk Protection Officer, Joe Cassa: joecassa@comcast.net.
Ray and his wife Cindy joined Sunrise from Estes Park; Ray had been a Rotary member there for 27 years. Ray complimented what Jerry Wilford has shared with us regarding The Rotary Foundation. A complete description of the Foundation may be found in TRF website, www.rotary.org, under "For Members" - The Rotary Foundation Reference Guide.
Ray challenged the members in two ways: "do you belong to Rotary or believe in Rotary" and the first 5 individuals to donate 100 of their Foundation recognition points (Foundation recognition points are awarded to donors who contribute to TRF through the Annual Fund or PolioPlus, or who contribute to sponsorship of a Foundation grant. Donors receive one recognition point for every U.S. dollar contributed to these funds.) he will match with 500 points. Donated points may help others become a Paul Harris Fellow.
Scott introduced another fascinating student, this time from Stem School, Tejas Luthra. Tejas' parents and Principal joined him. Tejas sincere interest and passion in cybersecurity has led him to an associate degree from Arapahoe Community College while still in his senior year in high school.
For the third week the Nominating Committee announced their candidate for President Elect Nominee 2025-26, Bill Leeper and asked for nominations from the floor. No names were offered; by unanimous approval Bill was confirmed PEN.
Announcements
Attention Board Members, zoom link for the meeting on the 13th,
Santa Kohl's, both noon and Sunrise, were a huge success. Thank you to Connie Golas and all who volunteered.
The Holiday Party was also a huge success thanks to many, Jane for coordinating, Kyle for Santa, and Bob Larson for the remarkable music. Keep in mind that next year we need more ladies and tenors.
Claudia expressed many thanks for those who have volunteered for the IFCS Walk-up Market.
We ran out of time during the meeting, but we're all encouraged (you must!) go to the YouTube button near the bottom of our website to view the video of the "Magnificent Seven" members who helped form and remain as the Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch: Jim Kelley, Marion Trummer, Neil DiLorenzo, Mark Eberly, Gary Dani, Mary Kay Hasz, and Debby Doig. Thank you "Seven", we wouldn't be where we are today without you! A special thanks to Phil Clarke and Bill Simmermon for their time and effort creating this remarkable video.
We won't meet the 21st so start searching for your perfect "White Elephant" gift for our meeting on the 28th.
Per President Bob, we need to start thinking about what we will do for our Project Day for Rotary, Saturday, May 18th.
Family of Rotary
Our thoughts and prayers remain for Arthur and Michelle as they continue in their recovery.
Our prayers go out to Earl and Mary Kay after Earl sustained a femur fracture and is recovering in a rehabilitation facility before returning to his memory care facility.
