Last Week:David Larsen, Freight Farm Manager, MVHS
Claudia introduced David, STEM, Gifted, & MTSS Program Facilitator, Engineering Teacher, and Freight Farm Manager at Mountain Vista High School. There are not enough words to describe this teacher of 32 years and what he has given to his students and our community. A hydroponic farm, 2-3 acres in a 40-foot shipping container and many opportunities for the real world: engineering/technology, communications, agriculture, business, and hands on learning. They are producing 600+ heads of lettuce year-round and for sale on "market day". Reach out to David for a weekly email list of their activities, david.larsen@dcsdk12.org.
We welcomed Elizabeth's guest, Nancy Forbes from Project Angel Heart and the Bramley's daughter, Meghan Symes and her Girl Scout troop. The girls decorated many bags for Project Angel Heart meals. It was great to see Betsy, Terre, and Gary in person.
In addition to receiving the decorated bags from the scouts, Elizabeth presented Nancy with a check for Project Angel Heart.
The Nominating Committee chaired by Shrin presented the proposed candidates for the President-Elect Nominee (2024-2025) and two Board of Directors (2023-2024) and asked for nominations from the floor. The Committee had no candidates for the President-Elect Nominee and selected Jeannie Taylor and Eric Kinsey for the Board of Directors. No nominations were received from the floor for either role. Nominations remain open for the next two meetings.
Jan 5th Phil Calderbank sent an email with the updated RCHR By-Laws. Please review these and respond to Phil with comments or concerns. The Club will vote on this document on the 19th.
Thank you, Carolyn, for officiating the meeting.
