THIS WEEK: Peter Ulrich and Jon Heggie, Classification Talks
Inspiration: TBA
Please let Tim know if you are interested in giving in February and March, timsparks@q.com
Last week Kevin challenged the Club with his inspiration about gratitude; pick someone who has done something nice for you and write them a letter. Call them, read the letter, and then mail it to them. Then write yourself a letter, put it away (where you'll remember), and open it in December.
LAST WEEK - Robert Mintz, Rotary International
Robert, an active member of the Denver Cherry Creek Club, shared what happened when he followed his Rotary dream to Chicago. Rotary flourishes worldwide, to serve communities in need, Rotary members travel and deliver services in locations around the globe, exposing themselves to potential high-risk destinations. When Rotary needed an effective way to obtain up-to-the moment situation awareness of global events to support their risk-based decision making, they turned to Robert Mintz and RITS (RI Travel Service). Building travel safety and security after 9/11, Robert developed traveler tracking, built a suite of services for protection, and a single global number manned 24/7 with staff to mitigate and assist. As Robert said, "the largest human intelligence on the ground". It was a fascinating talk and provided knowledge into an area of Rotary I, personally, never knew existed. Robert also developed the RI credit card which is now only available in the US.
A few other statements Robert shared which I found newsworthy: "We are a tremendous resource with 1.2 members.", "With Zoom, RI saved $20 million last year.", and, "$50 of our dues go to World Headquarters."
During the question and answer session, Robert described the STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) a "smart traveler" app available from the US State Department. The freeSTEP enrollment enables the State Department to better assist you in emergencies such as natural disasters, unrest in foreign countries, or lost/stolen passports overseas.

Please join theHighlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Clubfor our regular meetings. We are currently meeting virtually and hope to return to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch soon. We are still a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community. And we have fun at the same time!
Zoom call meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am. Please contact either Gary Smith (303-522-3355) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) for the Zoom meeting link. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings. We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
