LAST WEEK:Jerry Wilford - the Difference between RI Foundation and our Club Foundation and John Kennett GTKY Talk
Jerry began with we are #1 in the District for giving to Rotary International at $529.65 per capita. Which is amazing when only half of the Club are contributing; Rotary Direct recurring giving program is the easiest way to give or online at Rotary.org. (Your Rotary number may be found on the address label of your Rotary magazine.) 92% of funds are spent on program awards and operations. In 3 years from now 50% of funds come back to our District and can be used for grants; a return on our investment like "free money" as Jerry says.
Jerry and Bob presented Reen with her Paul Harris Fellow +4 pin. Congratulations Reen!
Jerry shared some of his 54-year history in Rotary including RI Foundation Chair, District Governor, and being recognized in the Arch Klumph Society and Foundation Circle.
The Rotary Foundation is a non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions. The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth president, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 to more than US$1billion. It has one of the largest and most prestigious international fellowship programs in the world. www.rotary.org for more information.
Our Club Foundation was described in the July 11th Wheel Spinner, "Your Money at Work".
John began by describing himself in three words: big, colorful, and grateful. And he has lived in life within those 3 words. He spent 41 years as a Rotarian in San Jose inspired by service and fulfilled by friendships. He and Sharon have been married 48 years and followed their son and his family to Colorado. Welcome Big John!
