LAST WEEK:Laura Stack, Effects of Marijuana on Developing Brains, Johnny's Ambassadors
Claudia introduced Laura and Jim Stack; Laura shared their heart-wrenching story of the suicide of their 19-year-old son and the harmful combination of a still-forming mind, high-potency THC products, and a high frequency of use resulting in Cannabis-Induced Psychosis. Laura responded by forming the nonprofit, Johnny’s Ambassadors, to educate parents and teens about the dangers of today’s high-THC marijuana on adolescent brain development, mental illness, and suicide. Her platform now brings education, awareness, and prevention curriculum to parents, drug prevention conferences, community groups, and schools to stop youth marijuana use.

We welcomed Mike Wescott, Kristina Floyd, and Dianne Carnahan from NCOA, Carl Husman (friend of the Kinsey's), Jim Murdock (potential member), and happily the return of Bill Piche, our latest returning full member. Welcome back Bill!

NCOA sponsor the annual golf tournament and joined us to present Certificates of Appreciation. The first certificate was presented to Jerry and Jan Selinfreund for their generous donations of time and money. Jimmy Kinley received the second certificate for his generous support of the tournament and the gazebo at the Crawford House. The final certificates went to us, RCHR, and our Foundation for our personal and financial support. Tom accepted for the Club and Steve for the Foundation. It is our honor to support NCOA.
It was a special day for Elya and Eric Kinsey as they received their blue badges and Jeanne Taylor as she was inducted receiving her red badge. Congratulations!
Bill slipped out to celebrate his 60th birthday on his own but we were able to celebrate during the Board meeting.

YESS (Youth Education & Safety in Schools) - Jan Keyton
Upcoming "Mental Health First Aid Program", via Zoom will be offered Feb 15th, 9 am to 3 pm (6-hour class plus 2 hours pre-work). Rotary will pay the cost of this program and all are welcome to attend. A second class, "QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention, 2 hours, is also available on Zoom. Please let Jan know if you are interested in attending either or both classes, and she will provide the link.
Members of the Military Committee make quarterly welfare check-in calls to the combat wounded Veterans of the Warrior Bonfire Program. 2022 RYLA(Rotary Youth Leadership Award) and Young RYLA.
RYLA dates are July 17-22 and Young RYLA will hold two conferences: June 19 - 24 & July 24 - 29. All three conferences will be held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. Applications on the website will open early Feb 2022, www.rockymountainryla.org.
The kids need adults to make these conferences happen, let Jan Keyton know if you are interested.

We are a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community. And we have fun at the same time!
