Military Service - David & Mike

Rotary International - Jerry Wilford
  • We are #1 in giving in the District beating the Denver Club.
  • Giving comes back to our Club through District funds; monies are invested and three years later approximately 50% comes back to Clubs through District grants.
  • The easiest way to donate is monthly contributions.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) - Jan Keyton
  • It's kick off time and applications open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Secondary to covid seniors are now eligible.
We welcomed back Bill Boyle, friend of Bill Simmermon.

Tamie reminded us of the upcoming 2023 District Conference; don't miss the opportunity to meet piano prodigy Jude Kofie - the 11-year-old Mozart. Jude, who has autism, has been highlighted on 9News, Fox News, 7 News and CBS This Morning. Denver Southeast Rotarian Bill Magnusson gave Jude a grand piano after hearing him play. What a wonderful gift, and just one of the many uplifting stories you'll hear at this year's District Conference, Celebrating Rotary's Impact.

Shannon O'Brien, a Rotarian from South Lake, TX, was inducted into the Club. Welcome Shannon!

We don't always auction wine, the Cone's donated a celebrated piece of art, "Happy Fish" from artist Sally Huss for Pediatric Mental Health. Sally is a renowned painter/writer living in Colorado Springs. Elizabeth purchased the painting and subsequently donated it to the Children's Hospital. Shrin, Terre, and Elizabeth presented the painting to Martine Hyland, Director of Individual Giving Children's Hospital.

From the Board Room - Phil Calderbank
  • Guy will be stepping down as Treasurer at the end of this year. Phil will be stepping down as Secretary. Chip Kennedy was selected as the new Treasurer. Claudia Caves is to be the new Club Secretary. Both positions will begin on July 1st.
  • The proposal to start a new Rotary Club at Wind Crest has been dropped, due to a lack of interest.
Thank you, Tamie, for officiating the meeting.

Announcements

I couldn't say it any better, from Terre: Our creative members have joined their talents with their kindness creating blankets for Children's Hospital. We have 5 so far. Won't you please bring your blankets to this week's evening meeting to add to this total? Terre will deliver them to Children's on Friday.

Last Saturday Elizabeth, Maria, and Robin joined Terre at We Don't Waste where they helped support 450 families from the Denver Metro area. We will be supporting We Don't Waste the 3rd Saturday each month.

Rotary Readers at Bear Canyon Elementary are needed from 12:30-1:30pm on the following Wednesdays: May 3rd and 10th - one volunteer. Please contact Connie Golas if interested, 303-875-5666.

Please join the Rotary Satellite Club of Highlands Ranch Sunrise for our regular meetings at Eastridge Recreation Center, 9568 S University Blvd, 80126. We are a very active club, have regular speakers, participate in “safe” service volunteer opportunities, and strive to make a difference in the community.  And we have fun at the same time!
Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:30 am.  Please contact either Lee Mulberry (303-522-6650) or Elena Cumberbatch-Lynch (303-875-3418) if you plan to attend. This is a great opportunity for a make-up meeting or for potential members that cannot easily attend noon meetings.  We look forward to seeing you and welcome any guests that would like to join us!
