Debby Doig and Steve Miller, The Rotary Foundation and Endowment
Debby developed an excellent slide presentation describing the Foundation and its goals. The Foundation was incorporated in 1989 with the purpose to distribute funds for charitable, civic, cultural, and educational purposes spending 100% of the net proceeds each year. The Foundation's Trustees have a fiduciary responsibility to manage the funds with integrity and according to IRS regulations. Income sources include the Bright Futures fundraiser, peach and pear sales, direct donations, and purchases through Amazon Smile. The funds support our committee's requests reflecting the desires of our members. Each committee annually requests a budget which the Foundation allocates based on their income/budget for the fiscal year. The Foundation also provides direct donations to local partners and organizations. Over the past 5 years our Foundation has donated over $550,000.
Steve described our Endowment with Morgan Stanley and their goal to grow the Endowment through our return on investment and from individual donations. The budget spends 5% yearly from the Endowment.
If you have an organization you wish the Club to support complete the Donation Request Form and submit to Debby for the Foundation's review.
Via Zoom, we welcomed Shelley Falk, President of the Corozal Belize Rotary Club and Phil Horning, a friend of Eric's who joined us during a December meeting.
Please see our home page for the Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch, www.rotaryclubhr.org. Kari provided complete instructions for linking your Amazon account to Amazon Smile allowing you to donate a portion of your spending to our Club's Foundation. Thanks Kari!
